He studied the planets and stars.
Anaximander
He studied about life. He believed that life begins
in the sea. But later on his idea was corrected by
Charles Darwins idea, The Evolution of Man.
Anaximenes
He believed that air was the most basic substance
in nature. Infact, he believed all things were
constructed by air. But his idea was wrong but led
to the most important discovery that was
introduced by the ancient Greeks, The Concept of
Atom.
Leucippus
He built on the concepts of Anaximenes and
proposed that all matter is composed of little untis
called atoms.
Democritus
He was a founder of the atom theory, stating that
everything is made up of tiny invisible things that
are never deleted, just changed and moved.
Aristotle
He wrote volumes of works on many things
including philosophy, mathematics, logic and
physics.
Alexander the Great
He was able to obtain plant and animal sample
from all over the world adding these to his
classification scheme.
Scientists Important discovery/contribution
Archimedes
He is the best known for his work with fluids
and also accredited with the discovery of this
method of measurement. He was one of the
ancient fathers of modern math and
geometry. Archimedes worked extensively
with pulleys, levers, and physics, adding his
creativity and knowledge to the growing
machines of natural philosophy.
Ptolemy
He assumed that the earth was at the center of the
universe and that the planets and stars orbited
around the earth in a series of circle.
Robert Grosseteste
He wanted to explain why things happened the
way they did and thats the essence of science. He
applied scientific method in explaining the
rainbow.
He was called the father of the scientific method
because he was the first to thoroughly explain and
use it.
Dietrich Von Freiberg
He explained for why a rainbow appears in the sky
and he was called the priest who solved the
mystery of the rainbow.
Roger Bacon
Bacon had seen the potential of science; he
predicted that science would bring about marvels
such as flying machines, explosives, submarines
and worldwide travel.
Thomas Bradwardine
He was an important figure in church history and
the first Reformer. And he was an important
person in the development of modern science.
Nicholas of Cusa

that it was the thing that is closest to infinity.
He was the one who break Ptolemys view on
Geocentric System. Nicholas also believed that the
earth spins while it travels around the sun.
Nicholas Copernicus
He laid out his idea about the earth, sun, planets
and stars. And he believed that the Sun is the
center of the universe.
Atoms are the basic building blocks of matter that make up everyday objects. A desk, the air, even you are made
up of atoms!
