Offering 7 UG and 1 PG programme (M.Com.) under aided stream, it offers 4 UG, 5 PG and 1 M.Phil. programme (Commerce) under self-financing stream. It offers 2 Ph.D. programmes in Commerce and Zoology. At present around 2200 students, mostly girl students and students other than Muslim community, have been pursuing higher education in this institution. The college was reaccredited by NAAC in March 2010 with the coveted A Grade with a CGPA of 3.23 out of 4. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Department of Commerce was one of the few Departments which came along with the inception of the college in 1970 when PUC course was introduced. B.Com. was introduced in 1978-79 and M.Com. in 1985-86 under aided stream. The Department of Commerce was upgraded as a Research Centre by the Alagappa University, Karaikudi with the introduction of M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in 2008-09. There are 4 research supervisors in the Department, who guides 12 M.Phil. scholars every year from 2008-09. Out of 6 Ph.D. scholars enrolled in the Department, 1 scholar was awarded Ph.D. in 2013, 1 scholar is expecting viva voce and 4 scholars have been pursuing Ph.D. under Part Time Programme. The Department has 10 Teaching staff and 1 Part Time Lawyer under aided category and 1 Asst. Professor and 1 Computer Lab Assistant who takes care of the Career Oriented Programme under which Diploma Course with Accounting and Tally has been offered by the Department to students pursuing different Degree courses. Last year the Department conducted an International Seminar on Globalisation and its Impact in India. ABOUT THE SEMINAR In the present day world, international trade is pertinent considering the GDP, the economic, social, geopolitical peace and stability of any nation. Without international trade, countries will be limited to the goods and services produced within their own borders. At a time when the world has been shrinking, the importance of international trade need not be explained considering globalization with the spread of its wings in various spheres including FII, FDI, MNCs, Outsourcing, et al. Abstract should be in about 500 words with 5 or 6 key words. Full papers should be in MS Word, Times New Roman Font Size 12 with 1.5 line spacing, fully justified and should not exceed 5000 words. The front page of the paper should provide details of author (s)s name, Designation or Course of Study, Name of the institution, email id and telephone number.
