5egularity in .ttendance
/egular attendan#e is #onsidered e:tremely important in the P7PM. *ll students
therefore, must #omply on regular attendan#e in #lass. $he relative dedu#tion of grade
points due to shortage of attendan#e is e:plained in the table belo(. "tudents having
attendan#e of less than D3C %irrespe#tive of medi#al #ertifi#ates& shall not be permitted to
appear for the e:amination in that termBa#ademi# year and (ill #arry K5L grade in the
#ourse.
!nstitute uses biometri# attendan#e for re#ording attendan#e of students. !n the event of
t(o #ontinuous sessions, students are re@uired to pun#h t(i#e at the beginning of ea#h
session if there is a brea1 in bet(een the sessions.
$he #lass room doors (ill be #losed (ithin < minutes of starts for ea#h session. "tudent
attendan#e (ill be a #omponent (hile grading them for the #ourse. !f the instru#tor
(ishes to ta1e physi#al attendan#e along (ith the Biometri# attendan#e, they (ill
#ommuni#ate the same in the #lass. !n this #ase also Biometri# attendan#e (ill be the
offi#ial re#ord %and not the physi#al attendan#e& for the #ourse. !nstru#tors have been
advised to report about habitual absentees %habitual absentee is defined as students absent

Unauthori2ed absen#e from #lassBinstitute (ill be #onsidered a brea#h of dis#ipline and

Prior permission of the Dire#tor P7PM must be obtained for availing of leave.
"tudents are not permitted to go out of station during the terms. !n the event of
students visiting their lo#al guardian for overnight stay, they must inform the Dire#tor
P7PM and admin offi#e %Offi#er in #harge of hostels& and only travel after re#eiving
a proper gate pass. !f a student is noti#ed to be out of station for overnight (ithout
any intimation to the Dire#tor P7PM, dis#iplinary a#tion (ill be ta1en against
himBher to the e:tent of debarring the student from appearing in the e:aminations.
!n #ase of si#1ness, medi#al #ertifi#ate issued andBor #ountersigned by the do#tor
along (ith the pres#ribed appli#ation form must be submitted to the P7PM Offi#e
(ithin days of Aoining #lasses after illness. 'o student shall be allo(ed to Aoin the
program unless heBshe presents a medi#al fitness #ertifi#ate duly endorsed by a
Medi#al Offi#er of the designated hospital only. 'o medi#al #ertifi#ates from do#tors
other than the !nstitute approved hospital (ill be entertained.
!nstituteMs approved hospital?s Medi#al Offi#ers (ill issue medi#al #ertifi#ates only in
#ase of diagnosed illness (here they are #onvin#ed that the student is too ill to attend
#lasses. $hese in#lude hospitali2ation, #ommuni#able diseases %#hi#1en;po:, Aaundi#e
and typhoid& and a##idental inAuries %fra#tures, deep traumas&.
5or grounds other than si#1ness, leave (ill be allo(ed to students in e:#eptional
#ases depending on the genuinity of the #ase by the P7PM Dire#tor. Ho(ever no
#ompensatory attendan#e and e:amination (ill be held for the period of leave.
"tudents (ill be a(arded grades on the basis of their attendan#e level and
performan#e only in the #lasses from (hi#h they (ere present. Before applying for
leave to the Dire#tor P7PM a student should #onta#t hisBher #ourse instru#tors to
ensure that heBshe is not missing any @ui22es or e:aminations during the leave period.
$he P7P Offi#e or the fa#ulty #on#erned (ill not be responsible for the student losing
any segment of evaluation on a##ount of hisBher leave. 'o #ompensatory opportunity
(ill be given for @ui22es and other #lass room based #omponents on a##ount of leave
of any 1ind.
.ttendance and Per)ormance Grade Penalty

8:iting and 8ntering
"tudents are e:pe#ted to remain in the #lassroom, be mentally alert, and parti#ipate in the
#lass pro#eedings for the duration. !f a student must leave early for unavoidable reasons,
that student should obtain permission from the professor before the #lass begins. -eaving
and re;entering the #lass is not permitted, e:#ept under e:traordinary #ir#umstan#es.
5a#ulty members may #ross #he#1 the attendan#e and if a student is found absent in the
#lass, the #ase (ill be sent to dis#ipline #ommittee and a#tions (ill be ta1en by the
#ommittee.

"tudents should demonstrate respe#t for 5a#ulty and fello( students. /espe#tful behavior
#ontributes to the enhan#ed learning e:perien#e. "tudents should refrain from disruptive
behavior su#h as eating, using laptops, and holding side;#onversations. Using laptops
during is allo(ed only on the instru#tion of the professor. !f ne#essary, the students are
e:pe#ted to see1 redress for grievan#es at a proper forum instead of see1ing an immediate
solution.
*ll grievan#es may be addressed to the P7PM;Dire#tor or respe#tive fun#tional heads
and in his absen#e, to the =:e#utive Dire#tor. !n su#h #ases, a #opy should be mar1ed to
the above.
5es7ect t'e Facilities
"tudents are e:pe#ted to help maintain #hairs, display s#reen, des1top #omputers, -0Ds,
tables, (indo( #urtains and ele#tri#al fittings in good usable #ondition and not damage
them or render them useless. "tudents are e:pe#ted not to destroy the #lassroom
ambien#e. $he #ost of damage, loss or theft on a##ount of students (ill be re#overed from
them. Qhen this #annot be attributed to one student, the #ost (ill be re#overed from an
identifiable group of (hi#h the individual is a part or from the entire bat#h. "tudents are
e:pe#ted to use #ans to dispose of trash. $hey are also en#ouraged to remove defa#ing or
un#lean material voluntarily.
=ssentially, students should al(ays use proper reporting and es#alating me#hanisms for
#on#erns and issues. Under no #ir#umstan#es should students ta1e matters into their o(n
hands. "tudents are e:pe#ted to use only the students? dining hall for dining. 0lassrooms
or any of the other administrative or a#ademi# areas shall not be used for dining.
7reat -a1es has adopted the prin#iple of preserving the environment. $herefore, it tries to
in#ul#ate in the minds of its students and staff, a sense of being one (ith nature #ausing
