TIME IN HOURS
Micro/ /ollio II 0 peration and Programming are Easy
Parameters such as time, temperature, and humidity are
entered into the MicroTenn in direct terms, time in hours,
minutes, and seconds; temperature in degrees C, and humid-
ity in % rel ative humidity. The MicroTenn is capabl e of con-
trol l ing temperature from 1 00C to +200C or 1 00C to
+500C on appropriate chambers. The range of humidity,
al titude or l inear process control is from 0 - 1 00.
MANUAL SETPOINT OPERATION
To operate a MicroTenn equipped chamber in the MANUAL
SETPOINT MODE, the operator first presses the "MANUAL
SETPOINT' switch on the keyboard, then digital l y enters the
setpoints for temperature, humidity or al titude. Once these
setpoints are entered, the operator simpl y presses the
"AUTO" switch, and the system automatical l y sel ects the pro-
per chamber function (heating, refrigeration, humidity, etc.)
required to reach and maintain setpoint val ues.
PROGRAMMING
Programming a MicroTenn equipped chamber to run com-
pl ex program profil es is al so very easy. F irst the operator
draws out time vs. temperature/humidity/al titude profil e, as
shown bel ow. He then sequential l y assigns step numbers fur
each ramp and hol d. Note: the MicroTenn can accept prograr
profil es up to 51 steps l ong.
To enter the program profil e shown bel ow into the MicroTenn,
the operator now presses the "PROG" switch. The MicroTenn
wil l then advise the operator to sequential l y enter the fol l ow-
ing data for each step of his program profil e.

PROPORTIONAL CONTROLLERS
The temperature,
humidity and l inear process control l ers buil t into the Mic-
roTenn are accurate 2 mode time proportioning units; these
control l ers receive digital setpoint information from the pro-
grammer, and compare it to the actual chamber conditions.
Each control l er then energizes the proper heat, refrigeration
or humidity system that wil l minimize or el iminate deviations
from setpoint Control l er outputs are proportional for al l para-
meters. F or exampl e, the temperature control l er wil l appl y
heat in proportion to the deviation from setpoint The farther
the actual chamber temperature is from setpoint, the more
heat is appl ied.
Advantages of bidirectional proportional control l ers are
smoother transition from heating to cool ing modes, a reduc-
tion in temperature overshoot, and conservation of energy
required for chamber conditioning.
COMMAND CARTRIDGE Stores customer test pro-
grams, up to six programs (three per side) of 51 segments
each. The control val ues of the proportional band, reset, devia-
tion set, and high/l ow l imits can be stored for each program.
Stored programs can be easil y recal l ed for use, modification
or del etion.
EVENTS Two events are suppl ied for customer use.
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM During initial "power up,"
the MicroTenn runs its own sel f-diagnostic test program. A
numbered message wil l appear indicating an error ora normal
system start up message. The operator is al ways sure the sys-
tem is operational before he attempts to run programs.
BATTERY BACK-UP The battery back-up system is
designed to retain the MicroTenn RAM memoryfor5 years, in the
event of power fail ure. The back-up system has a switch sel ect-
abl e "Auto Restart" feature which, when sel ected, wil l auto-
matical l y return the chamber to the step #, step time, and
temperature/humidity conditions that were present when the
power fail ed, and compl ete the program profil e.
LCD DISPLAY The cl ear LCD displ ay serves several
useful functions, depending on the mode of operation the
MicroTenn is in.
A PROGRAM MODE During programming, the operator
uses the LCD displ ay to indicate step #, setpoints,
events, time, etc. He may al so review the entire program
on the LCD displ ay before running it on the chamber.
B CONTROLLER MODEDuring this mode the operator
may use the displ ay to review the fol l owing:
1 . Actual chamber temperature, humidity, or al titude.
2. Deviation from setpoint for any of the above para-
meters.
3. Proportional band, and reset for each control l er (note:
P.B. and Reset are operator adjustabl e).
4. Deviation set
5. Hi-Low safety al arm setpoints.
The LCD can be used to displ ay time of day, and whil e pro-
grams are running, time into step, and total program running
time is avail abl e.
DEVIATION SET Acceptabl e deviation from temperature
setpoint may be keyed into the control l er. Shoul d the actual
chamber temperature shift above or bel ow this preset val ue,
the deviation rel ay wil l energize. This rel ay cl osure can then
be used to ring a bel l , shut down the test, or perform some
other appropriate function.
Exampl e - The program profil e shown bel ow has a 5C

Note: The deviation is adjustabl e from 0.01 to 300C.
With the deviation set, the operator is assured that required
"Ramp" and "Hol d" temperatures are being tracked by the
chamber.
Another use for the "DEVIATION SET' circuit is to initiate
and control a "GUARANTEED SOAK" period, as may be speci-
fied by various tests. When used in this manner, the program
time cl ock is hel d "Off" until actual chamber temperature is
within the acceptabl e deviation l imits. When this occurs, the
program "HOLD" is rel eased and the "GUARANTEED SOAK"
period begins.

24 HOUR MILITARY TIME CLOCK
El iminates the ambi-
guity and inconvenience of entering or reading time in am.
and p.m. units. The crystal control l ed time base accuracy is
.005%. (Note: May be programmed to perform an automatic
time of day start.)
