Setting Up BI in Netweaver 7.0 ABAP Trial version
This wiki try to provide the steps needed for setting up BI in Netweaver 7.0 ABAP Trial version, the screen capture are taken from previous NW2004s ABAP Trial version, it should still valid [will be
updated with the latest version once I get chance to replace my local NW2004s Trial with the Netweaver 7.0].
How to install won't be covered here, since there already available installation guide for NW2004s Trial and weblogs written.
Here are steps
1. Download the software and extract
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/webcontent/uuid/b2918eea-0601-0010-6284-e6cb7eee4399
2. Installation, see "How to install SAP Netweaver 2004s edition on Your Local PC." This is found in the root folder where the software was extracted: \SAPNW7.01ABAPTrial\Start.htm.
Note: The installation could appear to get stuck at 18%. This is the point where it is building the 11GB MaxDB database from scratch using Java and could take a couple of hours. You can see the
actual progress by checking the size of the installation folder c:\sapdb and see how close it is to 11GB.
3. When configuring the new item for SAP Logon, the entry for "Application Server" has to use the same name that you entered in \Windows\Systems32\etc\hosts file for IP 10.10.0.10. Each time you
login after rebooting your computer, you have to run Start > SAP Netweaver > NSP> Start Application Server. Wait a couple minutes till it says, "Press any key to continue..." prior to logging in.
3. Setting up BI
a. Login to client 000 with DDIC or BCUSER, change active client to 001
Run SE16, enter table RSADMINA and press Enter.
Enter BW in the CUSTOMZID field and click Execute (press F8)
Select the table row BW and click Change (press F6)
Enter "1" for the BWMANDT and click Save (Ctrl+S).
(this step seems not neccessary for Netweaver 7.0 version, BWMANDT already set for 001 )

b. Create new user e.g. NWUSER and grant SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW
Run SU01, give name NWUSER, tab 'profiles', put SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW.

Fig 1.2 Create User
c. Setup Logical system
Login to client 001 with new created user NWUSER, and run RSA1.
System will prompt no logical system exist, create new ?

f. Old BEx Analyzer 3.0 is ready to use.
g. For web reporting, we can do the setup follow this document
Setting Up 3.X BW Web
The query run in web may end with timeout, since the default timeout is 300, we may need to extend by change the profile, the file default.pfl can be found in C:\SAP\NSP\SYS\profile or possible in
C:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\profile specify :
icm/keep_alive_timeout = 1000
restart application server and cross check with RZ11
Web reporting is ready, try to run a query in web from Query Designer
Fig 1.10 BEx Web Analyzer (Ad-hoc Analysis)
You can create 3.x web template to run (use 3.x Web Application Designer), here's a simple report sample

Fig 1.11 Simple report
[Notes :
To have 7.0 Web reporting/ Netweaver portal, not sure whether the Java Trial version will work. Tried to install and Setting Up BEx Web (see OSS note 917950, there attached document,
troubleshooting etc), successfully install the Java Trial version together with ABAP version, and proceeded with some configuration from 'Setting Up BEx ...' like RFC destination in Java (using Visual
Administrator) but before finished all, the local NW2004s has been expired without notice.
