El Pasado Simple es un tiempo verbal que se utiliza para describir acciones que han sucedido en un tiempo anterior
y que ya han finalizado, por ejemplo:
She cleaned her house. Ella limpi su casa.
I broke the window. Yo romp la ventana.

Para poder formar una oracin en tiempo pasado debemos distinguir dos tipos: VERBOS REGULARES y VERBOS
IRREGULARES.

VERBOS IRREGULARES: forman su Pasado Simple aadiendo la terminacin ED al infinitivo, mientras que los
IRREGULARES reciben ese nombre por no seguir un patrn determinado y en este caso deben estudiarse
individualmente.

En el caso de los verbos regulares se forma aadiendo "ed" al verbo.
Si el verbo acaba en consonante + y la y se transforma en i al formar el pasado
Play + ed = played

Si el verbo acaba en e se le aade slo d.
Decide + ed = decided

Usa la segunda columna de la listas de verbos.







La forma afirmativa con el pasado del verbo conjugado.




La forma negativa con didn't y el infinitivo del verbo conjugado.

Las preguntas se hacen con el auxiliar did y el infinitivo del verbo conjugado.






MS EJEMPLOS:
1. Affirmative Sentences (Oraciones afirmativas)
Sujeto + verbo principal
o I wanted to dance. (Yo quera bailar.)
o She was a doctor. (Ella era doctora.)
o They learned English. (Ellos aprendieron ingls.)
o We believed him. (Nosotros le cremos.)

2. Negative Sentences (Oraciones negativas)
Sujeto + verbo auxiliar ("to do") + "not" + verbo principal
o I didn't want to dance. (No quera bailar.)

Nota: En expresiones negativas, el verbo auxiliar va en el pasado ("did") y el verbo principal se queda en el infinitivo.

3. Interrogative Sentences (Oraciones interrogativas)
o Did you want to dance? (Queras bailar?)
o Was she a doctor? (Era doctora?)
o Did they learn English? (Aprendieron ingles?)
o Did you believe him? (Le creste?)




EXERCISE 1. Put the verbs in parentheses into the simple past:

EXERCISE 5: Write the negative verb forms from the first sentences into the gaps. You can use long or short
(contracted) forms of the auxiliaries verbs.
Example: Frank turned on the radio. - Frank ______________ the radio.
Answer: Frank turned on the radio. - Frank did not turn on the radio. Or
Frank turned on the radio. - Frank didn't turn on the radio.

1) The children ran home. - The children _____________________ home.
2) I forgot the book. I ________________ the book.
3) We turned off the computer. - We _____________________ the computer.
