PRACTICUM AND FIELDWORK

EXPERIENCE



The following are regular weekly activities required for
participation in the Practicum Training Program:
Attendance at All Supervision meetings as
individually scheduled.
Attendance at All Professional Development
Seminars Monday mornings.
This is a non-salaried position.


USC KORTSCHAK CENTER
CENTER FOR LEARNING AND CREATIVITY
PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL COUNSELING PRACTICUM AND FIELDWORK EXPERIENCE
The USC Kortschak Center for Learning and Creativity
(KCLC) will offer a two semester, 15-20 hour per week
psychoeducational counseling practicum and fieldwork
experience program for USC's Rossier School of Education
Masters Program or USC Psychology Program beginning
August 25, 2014 and ending May 1, 2015.

This is an excellent opportunity for psychoeducational
counseling experience with undergraduate students seeking
services for learning differences, ADHD, and learning
disabilities.
Successful candidates will:
Gain skills in providing enhanced academic support to
undergraduate students at USC
Utilize a strength-based focus and multidisciplinary
approach for understanding individual learning differences
Gain interpersonal psychoeducational counseling skills in
one-on-one meetings
Increase personal knowledge in the realm of learning
disorders, dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning differences



PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Practicum/fieldwork trainees will be providing support
services for USC undergraduate students who have been
referred to the Center from a variety of referrals such as:
USC Student Counseling Center
Disability Services and Programs
USC campus community in general

Each trainee (Academic Coach):
Carries a case-load each semester
Has the opportunity to conduct intakes with senior
staff supervision
Receives one hour of individual supervision with a
post-doctoral psychology fellow in our APPIC-
member or educational psychologist/learning
specialist
Opportunity to facilitate psychoeducational groups
Receives 1.5 hours of professional development
each week
All case reports are reviewed by a licensed
psychologist or licensed occupational therapist

ELIGIBILITY
Enrollment in USCs Masters program
in Rossier School of Education or USC
Psychology Program.
Completion of coursework in the
fundamentals of counseling, college
student development, or learning and
individual differences.
Knowledge of basic educational
learning theories, occupational therapy
skills
