A Resume is a selective record of an individuals
background.
It is basically a professional employment-seeking
document thats presents a summary of an
individuals education, professional training,
experience, skills, abilities, achievements and
references.
It introduces the individual to a potential employer.
A resume is sent to prospective employers when an
applicant is seeking job interviews.

The rsum is comparable to a curriculum vitae (CV)
in many countries.
A rsum always comes along with a cover letter
and sometimes with an application for employment.

Chronological Resume: It emphasizes experience,
continuity, and career growth. It focuses on education
and work experience.
Functional Resume: It highlights accomplishments
and emphasizes skills and abilities, with less focus on
actual jobs held.
Technical Resume: It profiles technical skills,
intelligence and consistency in performance.
Curriculum Vitae: It is used in applying for
academic i.e. teaching and research positions.

Some resumes may include a professional summary
in place of career objective. It is single sentence
statement listing the applicants most important
qualifications, essential skills and work experience.
Ex: Over eight years of training experience in
designing manufacturing tools using COBOL, JAVA.

Give specific details of:
Name and location of the
school/college/university/institute attended.
Major areas of study, degrees/certificates
received.
Seminars/conferences/workshops/special
courses/training programs attended or organised.
The details should be mentioned in reverse
chronological order (recent qualification should be
mentioned first and so on)

When applying for a solicited job position, the
employer usually asks for references (names of
people who can give letters of recommendation).
This is done to check the credibility of the applicant.
Usually 2-3 referents are required.
These include ex-employers, teachers, supervisors,
research guides, colleagues, principals of schools
and colleges, VCs of universities, heads of
departments.
Name, designation, office address with pin code,
phone, email id, fax should be mentioned.

Be factual, complete and objective.
Use appropriate writing style.
Use specific details.
Organise the resume properly
