Una fobia es el temor

incontrolable, irracional y persistente a un determinado objeto, situacin o actividad, cuando la persona enfrenta a su miedo
experimenta una reaccin de ansiedad o miedo inmediatamente, causando sudor, temblores, mareos y malestar. La fobia que
yo escog es la musofoba, quienes tienen esta fobia experimentan terror y repulsin a animales como ratas y ratones aunque
algunas veces a todos los roedores. La fobia incluso se da cuando ven una foto de estos animales o una imagen en la televisin,
este miedo fbico y exagerado a las ratas y ratones ha sido tradicionalmente atribuido como una caracterstica estereotipada
de la mujeres, con numerosos libros, dibujos animados, programas de televisin y pelculas, donde las mujeres histricas gritan
y saltan a lo alto de las sillas o las mesas al ver un ratn, por ejemplo, en la viejas caricaturas de Tom y Jerry, pero la musofobia
en Ameria ha sido siempre experimentada por ambos sexos. Por eso se puede decir que en muchos casos el miedo a los
ratones es una respuesta condicionada socialmente inducida combinada con una respuesta sobresaltada, que es la respuesta a
un estmulo inesperado que es comn en muchos animales y humanos.
Hay una creencia muy popular que dice que los elefantes temen a los ratones. El primero que escribi sobre eso fue Plinio el
Viejo (en el ao 77 del siglo I) pero el escribia sobre monstruos mitolgicos tambin entonces sabrn que este seor tena una
buena imaginacin. A pesar de todo, poco o nada sabemos sobre el origen de este mito y bien podemos especular que mucho
habrn tenido que ver los circos. En el pasado, algunos circos realizaban actos o presentaciones en los que se exhiba el
supuesto temor de los elefantes hacia los ratones.Pero esto tampoco nos sirve de nada pues esos elefantes no se encontraban
en su estado natural, sino que eran domesticados y posiblemente obligados a actuar de esa forma. El mito dio lugar a que
diferentes zologos y bilogos se interesaran en el tema. La verdad es que pensar que un elefante pueda temerle a un ratn no
es tan ilgico pues, por ejemplo, muchas personas le temen a estos roedores e incluso sufren de profundas fobias casi que
incomprensibles.
En la naturaleza, realmente no lo sabemos y tampoco tenemos ninguna evidencia de que as sea. No obstante, algunos aos
atrs en el programa televisivo llamado Cazadores de mitos (Mythbusters), de la cadena Discovery Channel, se intent probar
eso. Se coloc un ratn de gran tamao frente a un elefante salvaje y el resultado fue ms que claro: el elefante se mostr
evidentemente asustado, esa fue su reaccin. Pero no se sabe exactamente a qu se debe pero se puede decir que en muchos
casos el miedo a los ratones es una respuesta condicionada socialmente inducida combinada con una respuesta sobresaltada,
es decir la respuesta a un estmulo inesperado que es comn en muchos animales y humanos
