POLI CY STATEMENT
We maintain and continuously improve this
policy and our management systems in ac-
cordance with ISO 9001:2000, OHSAS
18001:1999 and ISO 14001:2004

We minimise our environmental impacts for
the benefit of all persons, employees and
the business performance.

We minimise our use of resources, prevent
pollution and minimise waste.

Where practicable and economically viable,
we shall recover and recycle in preference to
disposal.

We meet or exceed Product, Safety, Quality
and Environmental requirements as required
by our Customers.

We communicate this policy and the results
of our activities, to members of the Com-
pany; to our Shareholders and to Second
and Third parties as appropriate and to the
Public.

We comply with all applicable Product,
Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
and other applicable permits / licenses in ac-
cordance with our company Aspects and
Risks.

We maintain good business and profitable
relationships with the public, authorities,
clients, subcontractors, suppliers and other
interested parties.

We will establish and review objectives and
targets for Quality, Health, Safety and the
Environment.

committed to ensuring sound Health, Safety,
Quality and Environmental management
practices accredited to ISO 9001: 2000,
OHSAS 18001: 1999 and ISO 14001: 2004 and
approved by the Board of Directors.

Organisation:

North Midland Construction PLC head office is
situated In Nottinghamshire:
Nunn Close, The County Estate, Sutton in Ash-
field, Huthwaite. NG17 2HW.

The Group consists of :

North Midland Building, Highways and Special
Projects, Utilities, Civil engineering and Nomenca
(Mechanical and Electrical).

As a group North Midland Construction PLC
ensure that:

The main policy document is available at Head
Office and the Company website, intranet and
at each site for reference.

We communicate this policy statement to all
employees and persons working on our behalf.

We eliminate injury/accidents and work related
ill-health by good working practices. Employ-
ees are encouraged to discuss health and
safety issues and improvements with their
managers.

All hazards relevant to our activities are
identified, assessed and controlled to ensure
the health, safety and welfare of employees
and others who may be affected by our work.

Management review:

This policy will be reviewed on an annual basis
and consultation sought with the elected
Representatives of Employee Safety and the
Representatives of the Employee Consultation
Group.

We will continually review the suitability of our
systems, procedures and technological ad-
vances in conjunction with our customer de-
mands and expectations. NMC establish and
review Safety, Quality and Environmental ob-
jectives, in order to seek continuous improve-
ment in our performance.


The aim is to GET IT RIGHT FIRST TIME,
EVERY TIME, AND STRIVE FOR CONTINU-
OUS IMPROVEMENT
Group Responsibilities:

The Board of Directors have appointed the Chief
Executive Mr. R. Moyle with Board responsi-
bility for Safety, Quality and Environmental mat-
ters.

The Chief Executive accepts ultimate responsibil-
ity for this Policy and provides an appropriate
allocation of financial and physical resources for
the implementation and monitoring of this Policy.
He is supported by the Group IMS department
and external safety advisors.
Group Audits:

The IMS department will undertake Health,
Safety, Quality and Environmental audits on the
Companys aspects / risks relevant to its activi-
ties. Audit findings will be reported to the relevant
business / division.

Business responsibilities:

Managing Directors have business / divisional
responsibility for

Safety, Quality and Environmental matters
Maintaining third party certification to ISO
9001:2000, OHSAS 18001:1999 and ISO
14001:2004
Publishing their own procedures and
management arrangements which meet the
requirements of the Integrated Management
System.
