SCENARIO 1: CASE STUDY

You are an independent business analyst and you are conducting a research about
the most prominent companies in the world. You plan to publish and sell this
research later on as a useful investment guide for stock players, fund managers and
investment houses. You chose Unilever plc as your case company.

Being one of the biggest consumer products company in the world, Unilever has
more than 400 brands sold all over the world from nutritionally balanced food stuff to
everyday household care products.

Just recently, the global consumer products manufacturer has opened an innovation
space at Liverpool Science Park as part of a 6.9m project to facilitate cutting edge
research into home and personal care products like Dove hair shampoo and Persil
laundry liquid.
This signifies the companys grand intention of dominating the European market not
just in UK. However, as it is not uncommon knowledge that the recent economic
crises that hit the European market (and the global market), there is no assurance
that banking on Unilever will have investors make a run for their money.

This is where your research comes in. Your task is to give a solid, and reliable
research about the business environment status of UK.

You are to refer and make further research about the company as you answer the
Learning Objectives that follow. The main point about this case is for you to realise,
discuss and relate practical applications and references of the learning outcomes in
Business Environment. Instructions on how to answer the assignment are made
clear in the foregoing pages. Make sure to observe them strictly as this will affect
your grade.

Furthermore, you also need to understand the marking criteria to know you can earn
higher grades. As long as opportunity permits it, apply as much of the classroom
learning which you should have learned already in answering the tasks.
