FMM
Insttute was incorporated as a separate company of
the Federaton of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) on
January 12, 1999. This efort was specifcally to expand and focus on its training
functons, in line with the objectves of FMM to develop the potentals and
enhance the skills of personnel at every level in the industry. This will create
a pool of manpower trained in all aspects of industrial skills and management
capabilites to face the challenges as the country moves into the status of an
industrial naton.
Contnuing professional educaton provides the opportunity for the working
personnel to gain the necessary qualifcatons to upgrade themselves both
professionally as well as for self-development. This opportunity is made
possible through FMM Insttutes Certfcate and Diploma courses in selected
areas of industrial and management skills. FMM Institute obtained its
Insttuton of Private Higher Educaton (IPTS) status from the Ministry of
Educaton on July 19, 2001 to ofer Diploma and other higher level courses.
Eforts are ongoing to ofer Degree and Masters level courses specially designed
to meet the Training Needs of the Manufacturers.
A wide range of training courses are also ofered on an in-house basis. These
include all the public courses as well as those that need to be specially
customised to meet the training needs of specifc industries. Course outlines
and objectves are discussed with the companies and trainers will be selected
to develop the courses accordingly. All in-house courses are packaged to be
cost efectve for companies with no compromise on the quality of the course
and the desired result. FMM Insttute is a registered Training Provider with
Pembangunan Sumber Manusia berhad (PSMB).
FMM Insttute, Perak is housed at Ipoh, Perak. It has 4 modern training rooms
with a total seatng capacity of 120 partcipants and one FMM Hall that can
accommodate a total of 80 partcipants.

As industrializaton becomes more rapid, so has the number of accidents
at the working places. Ofen, these accidents happen due to ignorance or
the lack of knowledge in preventng them. Accidents cost money. Besides,
they dampen the morale of the employees and tarnish the reputaton of the
company. preventon is beter than cure, and preventon of accidents can best
be achieved when there is an urge to do so that stems from the hearts of the
employees. The preventve measures mentoned here apply to Ergonomics,
Chemical safety, hearing Conservaton and Emergency planning aspects at
the workplace.

Time Based Maintenance is a scheduled inspecton to detect conditons
that might cause breakdowns and restoring the equipment back to original
conditon, while Conditon Based Maintenance is the control of equipment
components where it is used untl the life span. Both the maintenance
approach is a proactve an efectve method to detect the deterioratng
conditon so that breakdowns can be prevented and eliminated so that
producton is not afected and no major losses.

Compensaton includes wage and/or salary programs and structures e.g. salary
ranges for job descriptons, merit-based programs and etc. It is payment to an
employee in return for their contributon to the organizaton, that is, for doing
their job. Employee benefts typically refers to retrement plans, health life
insurance and etc. Benefts are forms of value, other than payment, that are
provided to the employee in return for their contributon to the organizaton.
