Prelude How Beauteous Are Their Feet Flor Peeters

Welcome Rev. Scott Davis
Welcome to Aldersgate and to this worship experience! Please take a moment to sign the
attendance pad found at the end of each pew and then pass it down to your neighbor. If you
have a prayer request please complete the blue card found in your pews and pass it to the
ushers during the opening hymn. Kindly silence all electronic devices as we prepare to worship.

*Call to Worship Susan Painter
Leader: Come, all you who are children of the promises of God, heirs of the faith.
Give praise to God!
People: We will tell all the nations of Gods name and Gods work. In our homes, in
our worship, in our daily work, in the company of the faithful to every
nation, and to every generation, we will declare the mighty works of God!
Leader: You who stand in awe of God, worship, honor, glorify and praise Gods name.
People: Gods face is not hidden from us. We will seek and praise the One
who hears our cries. May our praise for God well up within us
like a fountain, and spill over to the ends of the Earth, so that all
the nations will worship the Lord. Lynne Blankenship Caldwell
*Opening Hymn 98 To God Be the Glory

*Opening Prayer
God, our maker, hold us this day, with the same hand that shapes
the mountains, with the same hand that cradles the deep.
Keep our hearts open, make our faith strong, as you renew,
reform, recreate us into the image of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen.

Come Now Children
All children are invited to come forward as the congregation sings: Come, now,
children, this is your time; God loves you, we love you, you are the gift of our church!

Childrens Message Rachel Miller
Following the Children's Message children may return to sit with their families or attend

AUMC Nursery Ministry If you would be willing to spend just ONE Sunday in the nursery in
the upcoming weeks please contact Cassie ASAP at casfcooley@gmail.com. Thank you.

with children and youth at Aldersgate UMC are asked to gather for a review of the church's

school for the year it's the perfect time to get together and review the policies and procedures
in place to make sure our children, families, and volunteers are safe at all times. Sandi Abbott,
AUMC Children's Safety Coordinator, and Rachel Miller, Director of Ministries with Young
People, will spend 15-20 minutes with all volunteers and staff who work directly with children
and youth. Please makes plans now to attend. (Location in the church TBA)

College Student Care Packages Can you believe it's time for another school year to start?!
With that in mind, please let me know any Aldersgate affiliated college student's address that
you may have. We send out care packages during exam times twice a year and the kids really
enjoy them and are glad to know that their church family is thinking about them. But we can't
send out the packages if we don't have the name and address! Please get the information to
either the church office or directly to Susan Reed (973-0766; you can leave message or
reedr3va@netzero.com). Thanks!

School, and more! You won't want to miss it! Please contact Rachel at
rachelmiller@cvaumc.org to RSVP and for the Reid's home address.

Baked Potato and Salad Lunch, Sunday, September 21
September is Hunger Action Month and to raise awareness of the 50 million people in the
United States who are hungry or food insecure, the Outreach and Missions Team is inviting
you to join us for a Baked Potato and Salad Lunch on Sunday, September 21, from 11:30 AM to
1:30 PM in the oldfellowship hall on the lower level. The cost is $5 per person with a maximum
of $20 per family. Children aged 3 and under eat free. Proceeds will benefit the Society of St.
Andrew. Since 1983, the Society of St. Andrew (SoSA) has salvaged fresh, nutritious produce
from American farms - produce that otherwise would be left to rot - and delivered it to
agencies across the nation that serve the poor. SoSA helps feed America's hungry three ways:
Gleaning Network, Potato & Produce Project and Harvest of Hope. To learn more,
visit www.endhunger.org. For more information, please contact Susan

NEW AUMC DINNER GROUPS We are organizing a new set of dinner groups this fall. While
sharing food and fellowship, we hope to get to know each other better and meet new people.
This opportunity is open to everyone who might be interested, including members, visitors,
couples, and singles. Dinner groups (~8) are coordinated by leaders and meet once a month for
a pot-luck meal in someones home or at a restaurant, depending on what works best for each
set of participants. Groups are shuffled every 3 months. This year we also plan to invite guests,
in order to increase our circle of friendship. On the sign-up sheet, please indicate whether you
will be able to participate regularly or want to join a group on an occasional basis, due to
scheduling constraints. For more information, please contact Melissa King:
mdking26@gmail.com or 434.973.4778.

CALLING ALL LADIES If you are looking for a opportunity to get to know other women in our
church, please consider attending a Circle meeting. In September, after a summer break, our 2
Circles will resume meeting monthly for a time of fellowship, spiritual growth and missions. The
Sam Gibbs Circle meets on the third Tuesday at 6:30 pm which will be September 16. The Mary
E. Mills Circle meets on the third Thursday at 10:00 am which is September 18. We will be
making plans for our next Project Linus Make a Blanket Day on October 18 and for preparing a
meal for PACEM guest on November 18. We meet by our United Methodist Women display in
the Sip n Chat room. We are looking forward to seeing you!
