Course Description
The Operations Management I course will focus on different aspects of operations
management (OM) and how efficient management of processes is vital for the success
of a firm. It is the first part of a two-course series where we will discuss:
Forecasting
Inventory Control
Aggregate Production Planning
Quality and Reliability
Capacity and Facility Design
In general, processes create customer value by transforming inputs, such as materials,
energy, services, and people, into outputs, including both goods and services.
Operations-based principles are used in many functional areas to improve firm
performance and maintain a competitive advantage.
