Scan function
The scan function w orks in radio

Scan function in radio mode
Press the SCA N controlto hear a

stations on the frequency band.

Scan function in tape mode
Press the SCA N controlto hear a
short sam pling ofallselections on
the tape.(The tape scans in a
forw ard direction.A t the end of
the tapes first side,direction
autom atically reverses to the
opposite side ofthe tape.) To stop
on a particular selection,press the
controlagain.
Radio station memory preset
The radio is equipped w ith six
station m em ory preset controls.
AMradio:
These controls can be used to
select up to six preset A M stations.
AM/FMor AM/FMcassette
radio:
These controls can be used to
select up to six preset A M stations
and tw elve FM stations (six in FM 1
and six in FM 2).

Fast forward
The fast forw ard control(FF)

mode
A fter pressing FF,the radio plays
untilthe fast forw ard function is
stopped (w ith the tape play select
controlor the fast forw ard control)
or the end ofthe tape is reached.
A t the end ofthe first side ofthe
tape,direction autom atically

RADIO RECEPTION FACTORS
Three factors can affect radio
reception:
D istance/strength.The further
an FM station travels,the
w eaker it is.The listenable
range ofthe average FM station
is approxim ately 40 km (24
m iles).This range can be

affected by signalm odulation.
Signalm odulation is a process
radio stations use to increase
their strength/volum e relative to
other stations.
Terrain.H ills,m ountains and tall
buildings betw een your vehicles
antenna and the radio station
signalcan cause FM reception
problem s.Static can be caused
on A M stations by pow er lines,
electric fences,traffic lights and
thunderstorm s.M oving aw ay
from an interfering structure
(out ofits shadow ) returns
your reception to norm al.
Station overload.W eak stations
are som etim es captured by
stronger stations w hen you pass
a broadcast tow er.A stronger
station m ay tem porarily
overtake a w eaker station and
play w hile the w eak station
frequency is displayed.
The audio system autom atically
sw itches to single channel
