about
Serge Ginger
Serge GINGER is a clinical Psychologist and an international Trainer in Psychotherapy.
He has worked, during several years (1974-1980), as international Chief Expert for UNESCO,
in the field of Special Education and Psychology.
He was trained in Psychoanalysis, Psychodrama (since 59), and Gestalt Therapy (since 1970).
He is the founder, in 1980 (with his wife Anne Ginger) of the Paris School of Gestalt
Therapy (cole Parisienne de Gestalt, or EPG) which is now one of the most important
Training Institute for Psychotherapists in Europe (trained 1,200 psychotherapists).
Since 1991, he is the President (and founder) of the International Federation of Gestalt
Training Organizations (FORGE) which gathers 30 Training institutes from 20 countries
of all continents. He is a professor in Gestalt Therapy, leads workshops and gives lectures in
public and private universities (Paris, Nantes, Lyon, Sigmund Freud University-Paris) and
institutes in many countries: in all Europe, Russia, North America, Latin America and Asia.
He is the Secretary general of the French National Umbrella of Psychotherapists &
Psychoanalysts (Fdration Franaise de Psychothrapie et Psychanalyse, or FF2P) which
gathers 63 psychotherapeutic organizations (national associations, training schools or institutes,
unions, etc) representing twenty different modalities of Psychotherapy and several thousands of
professional psychotherapists.
He is a member of the Executive Board of the European Association for Psychotherapy
(EAP) which gathers 120,000 professional psychotherapists in 41 European countries. He has
been elected as Registrar, in charge of checking the National Umbrellas (NAOs), the European
Wide Organizations (EWAOs) and the European Certificate of Psychotherapy (ECP) which
implies 3,200 hours of training, spread over 7 years, and as President of the TAC (Training
Accreditation Committee for European Psychotherapy Training Institutes).
He authored 20 books about special education, Gestalt Therapy, and about Psychotherapy
in general, published into 13 languages: French, English, German, Italian, Spanish,
Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Romanian, Latvian, Ukrainian, Macedonian and Japanese (under
press in Greek and Chinese). 100,000 copies have already been sold. His best-sellers are:

He wrote140 articles or chapters of books, published in different Journals in 23 countries.
Serge Ginger traveled, with his wife Anne, in seventy countries, all around the world. He
speaks several languages (he teaches in French, English, Russian and Italian) and is interested
in studying the diversity of cultures and religions. He is now 80 years old (born in 1928); he has
four children end ten grandchildren. He practiced different sports (volley ball, judo, skiing, etc.)
and enjoys playing chess.
