Subject: Changes to DIRECTV

Latin America Satellite at 95W

Within the next two weeks, DIRECTV will be changing the tracking parameters of its 95W satellite. As a
result of this change, customers who wish to receive DIRECTV Latin America programming from the 95W
satellite will need to perform the following steps.
Step 1 Modify the tracking parameters in the TracVision

antenna.
The following parameters for the 95W satellite need to be configured in the TracVision antenna:
All TracVision Models All Models Except HD11 HD11 Only
Parameter Correct Setting Parameter Correct Setting Parameter Correct Setting
Polarization RHC (Right) Polarization LHC (Left) Polarization LHC (Left)
Frequency 11570 MHz Frequency 00000 MHz Frequency 11570 MHz
Symbol Rate 20000 Symbol Rate 20000 Symbol Rate 22500
FEC Code 23 FEC Code 23 FEC Code 23
Network ID 0xFFFE Network ID 0xFFFE Network ID 0xFFFE
Note that, unless the antenna is an HD11, there is no longer a valid tracking frequency for the LHC (left-hand
circular) polarization. The antenna will need to track exclusively on the RHC (right-hand circular) polarization.
There are several options available for performing this update:
TracVision M5 or M7 with a MultiSat Control Panel (MCP): Update the parameters at the MCP*.
TracVision M9 or G8: Update the parameters at the Master Control Unit (MCU)*.
TracVision HD7 or HD11: Update the parameters at the web interface or ACU*.
All other models/configurations: Connect a laptop to the antennas Maintenance port and use the
@SATCONFIG command* as shown below. (If 95W is installed as satellite B or C, substitute B or
C for A.)

Step 2 Connect the antennas RF1 cable to the 13 VDC input of a multiswitch.
You can skip this step if the antenna is an HD7 or HD11.
To ensure that the antenna tracks the 95W satellite on its RHC polarization at all times, a multiswitch must
be installed between the receiver(s) and the antenna. Also make sure that the antennas RF1 cable is
connected to the 13 VDC input on the multiswitch (not 18 VDC). This wiring requirement might conflict with
wiring diagrams provided in the TracVision manual.
Step 3 Replace GLA model receivers with L models.
Customers who are using GLA1 or GLA2 receivers will need to replace them with L models (i.e., L10,
L11, L12, or L14). Legacy GLA receivers will no longer be able to decode the satellite signal. Customers
should contact DIRECTV Latin America for upgrade details.
