How can I use the Nikon Bellows Focusing Unit PB-6 with my Nikon

Digital SLR?
he Bellows Focusing !ttachment PB-6 lets you "a#y the lens e$tension %#om
&'mm to ()'mm* +#o,ucing %#ame-%illing images o% the most minute su-.ects/
Instructions:
Using some Nikon Digital SLR0s with the PB-6 -ellows #e1ui#es %ollowing s+ecial
ste+s/ o mount the came#a* +lease con%o#m to the %ollowing se1uence2
3/ Rotate the lens -ayonet on the PB-6 to the "e#tical +osition/ Do this -e%o#e
attem+ting to mount the came#a/ I% the PB-6 lens mount is in the ho#i4ontal
+osition* the -ellow0s #ail system inte#%e#es with the +ositioning o%
the came#a on the mount/
(/ 5ith the -ellows mount in the "e#tical +osition* mount the came#a in the
no#mal manne#/ Late#* i% you wish to +osition the came#a to ho#i4ontal* it is
+ossi-le/ Release the -ellow0s lock mechanism* an, #otate the came#a to
the ho#i4ontal +osition/
6/ o #emo"e the came#a -o,y %#om the -ellows* %i#st #otate the came#a -o,y
to the "e#tical +osition* then +#ess the lens #elease -utton an, ,ismount the
came#a/
After connecting the camera to the PB-6 there are a few issues to
remember when using the two:
3/ his in%o#mation a++lies e$clusi"ely to the PB-6 -ellows an, PB-67
-ellows e$tension/ he ol,e#* PB-8 -ellows cannot -e use, with the newe#
,igital SLR0s/
(/ Nikon DSLRs can -e use, only in manual cont#ol mo,e* you must set the

that the %#ont o% the lens mount is +ositione, on the -ellows an, the #ea#
element now %aces the su-.ect/

shallow at high magni%ication/

Instructions for attaching the PB-6 to the F100 or D100

techni1ue is necessa#y/ :he PB-6 cannot -e mounte, on an F3)) o# D3))
i% the came#a has its o+tional -atte#y +ack installe, without an e$tension
#ing@/ he e$tension #ing will +#o"i,e the clea#ance necessa#y to attach the
PB-6/ Use eithe# the PA-6* o# PA-3(;
(/ <o"e the came#a mount on the -ellows all the way to the #ea# en, o% the
#ail/ I% the #e, in,e$ ma#k on the -ellows0 came#a mount is at the 3(-o0clock
+osition* +#ess the #i,ge, #elease -utton on the #ight an, #otate the mount
until it sto+s with the #e, ma#k at B o0clock/
6/ Now the -ellows can -e mounte, on the came#a -y %i#st matching the #e,
in,e$ with the white ,ot nea# the came#a0s lens mount then tu#ning the
-ellows until it clicks into +lace with the #e, ma#k +ointing to the to+ o% the
came#a/
&/ he came#a will now -e mounte, on the PB-6 in the C"e#ticalC +osition/
he came#a can -e #otate, to the no#mal +osition -y %i#st +#essing the
#i,ge, le"e# on the -ellows0 came#a mount/ :he came#a is ,ismounte,
%#om the PB-6 -y %ollowing the a-o"e +#oce,u#e in #e"e#se;
Please note the F3)) will +#o"i,e a limite, choice o% mete#ing an, e$+osu#e
cont#ol mo,es with the PB-6 attache,* an, the D3)) +#o"i,es no mete#ing o#
e$+osu#e cont#ol at all when use, with a PB-6/
*Some bulier cameras !such as the F"# D1-series# D$-series# D%&# an' D%(
will re)uire the attachment of a P*-1$ or P*-1% e+tension ring !tube( as a
s,acer before the PB-6 can be attache'- .ithout the e+tension ring# the
bellows unit will bin' on the bottom on the camera# ,re/enting it from
rotating into a usable# loce' ,osition- Smaller DS01s allow enough
clearance at the bottom 'ue to the location of the batter2 ,ac an' an
e+tension ring is not necessar2- A''ing an 3D-D100 or other t2,e batter2
,ac to the bottom of the smaller DS01 maes them almost the same si4e
as the larger DS01s# thus re)uiring the nee' for an e+tension ring-
