English is important in this world because a lot of the major places speak it. For
instance, Europe and the Americas speak it. And because when the early

speaking places. Now it is a custom for everybody to learn English.... Everybody
speaks it.

The Importance of English in the World of International Business

English is now a global language that belongs to all those who speak it. It is the
technology that allows people to travel further and faster than ever before. It is
the Internet that links people regardless their nationalities and countries they live
in. And technology is also the reason why lots of business people are active
globally and why more and more entrepreneurs are on the move than ever
before. In this world full of the state-of-the-art technology English serves as a
uniting element in many situations, giving all entrepreneurs and small companies
a better chance on the market and an ideal comparative advantage over those
who lack the ability to communicate in this language.
There is no doubt that professional knowledge and experience is essential for
entrepreneurs and managers. But reaching and staying at the top requires more
than just being knowledgeable and experienced. One of the reasons why some
entrepreneurs are successful and some of them are, let us stay optimistic, less
successful, may lie in the ability to communicate knowledge in a foreign language.
Of course, one has to agree that entrepreneurs and companies can hire
interpreters who are both fluent and skilled. However, entrepreneurs cannot
expect that people, who are not really involved in a companys matters, will
establish relationships in the way loyal and committed employees of the company
can. The solution to this problem lies in constant learning and studying the foreign
language. But first of all, it is significant that employers realize the importance of
learning (Business) English at the workplace. Over the years, research and needs
analyses have produced a wide range of the language-using tasks an employee
should be able to tackle in order to deal with the exigencies of the situations
which may arise at the workplace.

The Future of English

It has long been accepted that English is a global language, used in all corners of
the world as a means of communication. In many parts of the world, English is
regarded as a basic skill, which children learn at an early age so they can study
through English later. The latest statistics tell us that these days around eighty per
cent of spoken English is spoken between non native English speakers. A Japanese
businessman and his French client will conduct their communication in English.
While linguists agree that the situation of English today is at a global all time
record, they do not necessarily agree on where the language is heading. Two of
the worlds leading experts on the English language disagree on the path that
English is likely to take.
English as a first language is rising; it is not rising as fast as the number of people
speaking other languages around the world. It believes that English will soon be
relegated to second place after Chinese and will be equal in dominance to Arabic,
Hindi and Urdu. With twenty five per cent of the worlds population speaking
English as a second language En. He is keen to point out that nobody really knows
what the future holds for English because at no other time in History has a
language been in such a position. He draws attention to the escalating growth in
the use of English between non native speakers and sees no reason for this trend
to stop.

While researchers do not dispute the fact that the number of people speaking
English in the world is growing, they emphasizes the fact that this is a recent
trend. They disagrees with the idea that English will become a dominant world
language to the exclusion of other languages, Just because people are learning
English, it does not mean to say they are abandoning their own languages. They
are instead becoming multilingual. They continues by suggesting that the growth
of English is responsible for the spread of multilingualism and that native English
speakers who are monolingual will necessarily become disadvantaged. Regardless
of which they agree with, one thing is certain; the future of English is just around
the corner and whichever direction it chooses to take, it will be difficult to ignore
its impact.
