1. Introduction:
1.1 Background:
Bangladesh is a very densely populated and low lying country with around 150 million
inhabitants living in an area of 144,000 sq.km. A majority portion of the population lives in rural
areas. It is estimated that about 76% of its population live in rural areas. Before doing the
research some study related to growth center of different countries had done. As farming has
declined in terms of its economic contribution in many rural areas, new activities have grown up,
including tourism, small scale, niche manufacturing and food production and business services.
In many areas, however, farming remains important in terms of its contribution to employment.
Alongside such changes to the economic base of many rural areas, demographic shifts have
occurred, with many accessible rural areas. However in Bangladesh most of the rural areas are
focused on agriculture as well as other social and economic facilities
Though different rural areas have different characteristics, they are related to each other.
However study area has been selected Phultola union of Khulna districts which is situated about
20 km far away center of Khulna districts. It is located in North of Khulna District at 22.9750N
89.4583E. It is connected with Jessore-Khulna Highway. There are lot of opportunities in this
area. As well as Nobel Prize winner in Literature. Rabindronath Tagores father-in-laws house
of Dokindihi village which is served as tourism spot of this area. Every year in 24
th

village fair is held in Dokindihi.

4. Reasons behind the distribution:
As this is an agriculture based area specially their main product is sugarcane thats why there is a
factory to produce sugar. There are almost no Hindu people in this ward according to members
and which can be evident as there are no temple in this area. There are no law enforcement office
to control the crime and there are many young people who are drug addicted. There is only one
primary school and the condition of the school is not so good. The attendance rate in school is
less than 60 percent because some parents of those children want their children to work with
them in field to earn extra money. But there are educational demand in this area. But the primary
school has not enough capacity to fulfil the demand. The transportation link with the sugar
factory is good but the rest are not good for vehicular movement as the local authority takes not
enough steps to solve them. There are 3 Eidgah but among them two are used for playground and
other one is not enough big and used for growing grass which provide food for the domestic
animals. There is a madrasa where the quality of living and teaching is very poor and for
gathering fund the orphan boys are used which is really a very bad phenomenon. This ward is
progressing in very steps of society day by day. There are 2 Mashjid as there are all most all
Muslim people here. There are two bazar which is held in once a week and the cost of food is
low as this area is provided with much more agricultural product. The price of some fish is much
higher as they are taken from Phultola bazar.
These are the possible reasons behind the distribution of the facilities of this area.
5. Conclusion and Recommendation:
In ward 3 it is noticed that village wise the distribution of the facilities are too poor because the
village Tortibpur is much abandoned as this is much smaller in size than other one .If we
consider ward wise then in this ward the facilities are not enough distributed but if we consider
as two village then there are much lacking in the facility distribution.
The transportation and the drainage condition is needed to be improved and because of poor
drainage many times in rainy season the villages are under water and which has bad impact on
the agricultural product. So in fine it is highly recommended that authority should take necessary
steps to control the drug addiction opportunities and improve the transport and drainage system
of the ward.
