BALANCED SCHEDULES
A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT
With the increased cost of education, the numbers needing to
take paid employment during the course of their studies have
never been greater. At Amity we understand the obstacle
that traditional timetabling may place in the path of a
successful work-study balance and ensure that contact hours
are grouped together to free up as many days as possible,
allowing students maximum fexibility in their life outside
university. We also strive to help by maintaining the highest
standards for staff, services and facilities, whilst keeping down
the cost of study. We work hard to ensure that our students
graduate ready to make their mark on the world without the
burden of a large debt.
We take pride in our students achievements and, alongside
the quality of the education they receive, we regard
their welfare as paramount in helping them to fourish.
With regard to matters academic or practical our staff are
always available to offer any guidance they can. This is why we
have already forged a strong reputation for student support
and ethical standards, with ASIC (the Accreditation Service
for International Colleges) accreditation as testimony to Amity
being a great choice for students from all over the world.
CAREER-FOCUSED LEARNING
Because we understand that the global job market is
fercely competitive all our courses are taught with the aim
of providing students with practical, transferable skills to help
them to continue to develop and adapt in the workplace
long after graduation. What is more, at Amity courses are
taught in small classes with a student to tutor ratio with which
larger universities cannot compete. This enables our students
to beneft greatly from the experience and knowledge of the
tutors, whilst also allowing our staff to build a better relationship
and understanding with those they teach. In addition, our
London location places students a step ahead on their
career path. With 100 of Europes 500 biggest companies
headquartered in the city, opportunities abound to work at
the forefront of your feld, whichever direction you choose.
A GLOBAL OUTLOOK
We are pleased to be based in one of the worlds truly global
cities. London is a thriving hub of peoples and cultures and
our School refects this dynamic. Studying here you will join a
global student body with an international outlook that serves
to enliven debate and enrich the learning experience. In an
increasingly interconnected world the future belongs to the
outward looking and having such exposure on your course is
a valuable bonus.

FINDING THE RIGHT ACCOMMODATION
EMILY BOWES COURT
STUDENTS ARE FREE TO FIND THEIR OWN ACCOMMODATION
IN THE CITY AND HOUSE AND FLAT-SHARES ARE EASY TO
FIND ONLINE. RENTS IN LONDON ARE HIGH, BUT WITH SOME
SEARCHING IT IS POSSIBLE TO FIND GOOD ROOMS FOR ABOUT
600 PER MONTH (EXCLUDING BILLS) IN ZONES 2-3.
However, in order to check the condition and suitability of
potential accommodation it is important to see it in person
before agreeing to move in and, if you are unable to do so,
to remove the risk we recommend taking a room at a hall
of residence that has been approved by Amity. We are able
to help arrange places for students in a variety of student
halls around the city and the details of those we commonly
use are listed below. In order to receive help with arranging
accommodation, please indicate in order of preference on
your application form the halls of residence in which you
are interested.
Run by UNITE, Emily Bowes Court is a purpose-built student
block conveniently located by Tottenham Hale railway station.
Residents are housed in en-suite bedrooms in fats with
shared kitchen and dining areas. Allocation of rooms in each
fat takes into account preferences with regard to smoking,
vegetarianism, year of study and single sex accommodation.

STUDENT LOANS THE ATUL CHAUHAN SCHOLARSHIP
BURSARIES
All undergraduate home students are eligible for fnancial
support in the form of a loan from the government run Student
Loans Company. Students may request a loan to contribute to
their tuition fee and maintenance, i.e. living costs. Irrespective
of income, every student qualifes for 72% of the maximum
loan and the remaining 28% is income-assessed.
In order to apply for a student loan you must frst be enrolled on
your course. You shall then receive an Anglia Ruskin University
student number and you can then apply for student fnance
online via the Directgov website at www.direct.gov.uk
For further information about student loans please contact
the Student Loans Company on 0845 300 5090 or visit the
Directgov website.
The Atul Chauhan Scholarship is awarded from a limited
fund to high achieving students in the form of a reduction
in their tuition fees. We welcome scholarship applications
from all students and applicants are assessed purely on their
academic ability.
To apply for a scholarship, please complete a scholarship
application form, available on request from the Finance
Offce, and submit it alongside your application to study at
Amity. Decisions pertaining to scholarships are fnalised two
months before the intake begins its frst term.
Bursaries are awarded with the aim of broadening access to
higher education by providing fnancial assistance to talented
students who are less able to afford the cost of studying.
A bursary may cover a percentage or the entirety of a
students tuition fee, although the cost of living is not covered
and must be met by the student themselves.
Bursaries are awarded at the beginning of each term and
applications may be submitted at any time, though they
are never awarded retrospectively, only to cover a period of
study yet to come. In order to apply, please complete and
submit a bursary application form, available on request from
the Finance Offce. The questions on the form are designed
to establish applicants fnancial circumstances as clearly as
possible and, to this end, we do ask for documentary evidence
in support of applications. We wish to ensure that students in
the greatest need receive the available funds.

MBA
MASTER OF BUSINESS
ADMINISTRATION
ABOUT OUR DEGREE
Our MBA has been developed to meet the needs of middle/
senior managers in the running of their businesses, and to
facilitate their progression to higher-level roles within their
organisation. Managers need to be aware of issues, able to
analyse their potential outcomes and consequences and
decide how to react. They do not have to be an expert in
all areas of business, but they need a general awareness of
which specialist facilities and services exist and how they can
assist in carrying out their role. Thus, MBA course have a far
more generalist and strategic approach than those Masters
courses focused on specifc subject areas.
This philosophy is followed by the Quality Assurance Agency
(QAA) in their Subject Benchmark Statements. Our course
follows their recommendations in its focus on the advanced
study of organisations and the dynamic, global context in
which they operate.
Unique to our MBA is the depth of emphasis on a strong
practical and professional orientation to the curriculum
and learning styles, which has led to a strong reputation
for providing managers with the foundation necessary for
handling complex issues in a turbulent business environment.
Leaders need to be challenging and thoughtful, analytical
and innovative, and these are important elements of
our course.

ASSESSMENT
LINKS WITH INDUSTRY
AND PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION
Each credit-rated module is assessed by an assignment,
often work or case-based. There are no formal examinations.
This ensures that learning is context-specifc and transferred to
the organisation. Our MBA is designed for students who have
gained a considerable degree of subject knowledge and
profciency from their undergraduate studies, experience of
the workplace or both. Our approach to study is essentially
one of critique and evaluation, using the results of current and
recent research and case studies to analyse, evaluate and
appraise established methods, practices or techniques.
Teaching input is provided via a wide range of approaches,
including lectures, seminars, video and case studies. Particular
emphasis is placed on team teaching and the setting of work-
based tasks at strategic level.
Learning strategies include syndicate work, group
presentations, working with local business organisations and
self-managed learning.
Assessments have a strong practical and professional
orientation, enabling you to develop a range of practical
management skills relevant to senior roles in their organisation.
Work-based assignments are used where relevant and
practical, to help you relate your learning to their work
environment, increase your knowledge of that environment,
help raise your profle and ensure your sponsor gains
immediate, practical beneft.
An important component of our course is the Postgraduate
Major Project, supported by our Research Methods for
Managers module, and often related to studies in one or more
other modules. You are expected to display a considerable
degree of profciency in research methods, and be able
to apply such methods to a real-world problem in a practical
and business-like manner. You are required to demonstrate
knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of your chosen
methods, and discuss how you worked within, or overcame
such weaknesses. Additionally, they are expected to
criticise their own work, both from a methodological and
practical standpoint.
Our MBA is accredited by the Association of Business Schools.
Links between our MBA and international partner institutions
are fostered through international websites, residentials
and conferences.

EVENING, WEEKEND
& PART-TIME STUDY
Currently evening, weekend and part-time study are available
only to postgraduate home students and run dependent
on demand. Evening study and weekend study involve 12
contact hours per week divided up as follows:
Evening 6pm-9pm, 4 evenings per week.
Weekend 5pm-9pm on Friday,
9am-1pm & 2pm-6pm on Saturday.
Please note that evening and weekend study run
independently of one another and there is no facility to
combine the two.
Part-time study typically involves half the number of contact
hours per week compared to full-time study, though in certain
circumstances, if requested, exceptions may be made at the
discretion of the School to offer fewer hours per week spread
over a longer period of time. Timetables for part-time study are
set taking into account the input of part-time students, in order
to best ft in with other demands on their time. If uptake is low,
part-time students sit in classes alongside full-time students; if
uptake is high it is likely that contact hours will be arranged
specifcally for groups of part-time students.
TOP-UP DEGREES
All of our degrees are also offered in top-up format. In order to
assess the eligibility of an applicant for a top-up degree we ask
for the inclusion of all relevant documents with the application.
Credits may be awarded based on previous academic
performance in equivalent subject areas or alternatively
applicable knowledge gained through prior work experience.
Final decisions on admission for top-up degrees and the
awarding of credits are made by Anglia Ruskin University in
line with the Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) procedure.
When considering the relevance of previous experience we
advise applicants to try to match their experience to the
learning outcomes of the degree curriculum, a copy of which
can be obtained on request from the Admissions Offce.
A Top-up degree requires the student to take fewer credits and
the tuition fee is adjusted accordingly, as follows:
Note that if it is decided that an applicant is not exempt from
any modules but that they are eligible to study for the degree,
an offer of full study shall be made instead.

50% for international students. The remaining fee is due over
the course of the academic year in a further 3 instalments for
home students and 2 instalments for international students,
each of 25%, though a student may make a payment any
time in advance of the instalment deadlines should they
so wish. Please note that if the fee for a programme is listed
as per annum, the same fee is payable each year for the
duration of the course.

FAQS
DO YOU OFFER WORK PLACEMENTS?
At present we do not offer any placement services. This is due
to the regulations which govern private colleges in the UK
preventing it.
WOULD I BE CONSIDERED TO BE A HOME STUDENT OR AN
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT?
If you are an EU national or have been granted indefnite
leave to remain in the UK, you would be classed as a home
student. If this is not the case you would be classed as an
international student.
I HAVE BEEN DELAYED AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO START ON
TIME. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
In exceptional circumstances, such as a delay with your visa,
we would allow you to start up to three weeks into the course.
If you are unable to join the programme in the term you have
been accepted for, we can normally defer your enrolment
until the next term. Please contact our Admissions Offce at
the earliest opportunity.
HOW MANY HOURS A WEEK MUST I STUDY?
The number of hours can vary according to the course,
but you will have at least 18 classroom hours per week.
DO I HAVE TO ATTEND ALL MY CLASSES?
You are expected to attend all classes unless you are ill or
have personal problems, such as bereavement. Please inform
the administrative staff if this is the case. Other factors, such
as moving house, travel problems or getting up late will not
be accepted as excuses. If you are on a student visa, the
UK Border Agency expects you to maintain at least an 85%
attendance record.
ARE THE TUTORS EMPLOYED BY ANGLIA RUSKIN OR BY
THE SCHOOL?
All tutors are employed directly by the School and we work with
Anglia Ruskin University and the Quality Assurance Agency for
Higher Education (QAA) to be certain that they meet stringent
conditions which prove their suitability to teach at University
level. All have rich industry and academic experience which
gives them the fexibility to engage with students and the
curriculum from multiple standpoints.
WHY DO THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
DIFFER FROM THOSE SET BY THE UKBA?
The English Language requirements for acceptance on to
the degree programmes match those set by Anglia Ruskin
University. This is the level judged to be a necessary minimum
for students studying for such a degree and is set in order to
ensure that those who are accepted onto a programme are
able to cope and that academic standards are maintained.

SAHIL KOHLI BA (HONS) BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
My course has helped me in better understanding various
aspects relating to business. The teaching staff here are
excellent and help in practical application, using real life
examples. I would highly recommend Amity London to
students who wish to pursue a career in business.
DANIEL WEBB MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Amity London Business School provides an excellent
environment in which to study. Student learning and
satisfaction is very much the focus of this organisation.
JORAM KAGO MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Amity Business School here in London gave me an opportunity
to hone the skills I learnt through my working experience in
the Telecoms industry. I got an opportunity to challenge
business scenarios and be challenged on what I thought
I knew, and re-enforce my practice with scientifc theory.
Getting ideas from students from different backgrounds was a
plus. The lecturers are easy to talk to as they were open to all
sorts of suggestions and arguments.
KUDZAYI KADUNGURE MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
I am currently studying for an MBA and have found the level
of academic support to be of a very high standard. I did
wonder whether the quality of the programme may suffer
because of the low tuition fees as compared to other
universities, but nothing could be further from the truth.
The academic resources and the skills and commitment of the
teaching and support staff have in fact been vital in making
my study at Amity stress-free and a continuing pleasure.
The lecturers give us great advice using their real world
experience and in-depth knowledge of their feld of expertise.
VIVIAN PAIVA MSC MANAGEMENT
Studying at Amity has been a good experience for me
as an international student. The School offers an excellent
academic infrastructure and a brilliant team of professors.
I defnitely recommend Amity for business studies.
