Why Is Krishna Blue?

Blue is one aspect of the legend of Krishna that has remain unchanged in
time and geography. Why is Krishna blue? Sadhguru looks at what the
blue magic is all about, and how it worked even on Krishnas sworn
enemies who were bent on his death and destruction.
Sadhguru: Blue is the color of all-inclusiveness. You will see in the
existence, anything that is vast and beyond your perception generally
tends to be blue, whether it is the ocean or the sky. Anything which is
larger than your perception tends to be blue because blue is the basis of
all-inclusiveness. It is based on this that so many gods in India are shown
as blue-skinned. Shiva has a blue skin, Krishna has a blue skin, Rama has
a blue skin. It is not that their skin was blue. They were referred to as blue
gods because they had a blue aura.

http://www.ishafoundation.org/blog/yoga-meditation/history-of-yoga/why-is-krishna-blue/ 2/6
An aura is a certain field of energy that is around every substance. It is a
scientific fact that the whole existence is energy. One part of the energy has
manifested itself into a physical form. Another part of the energy does not
manifest itself into a physical form, but it still has a form. That form which
is not yet physical, or refuses to become physical but still maintains a
form, is called aura.
Krishna being blue-bodied need not necessarily mean his skin color was
blue. Maybe he was dark-skinned, but people who were aware saw the
blueness of his energy, so they described him as blue. There are many
disputes about who Krishna is and what he is but his all-inclusiveness is
one thing that no one can deny. So the theme of blue remained common,
and in every corner of the country, Krishna is seen as blue.
Irresistible blue
Because his energy or the outermost ring of his aura was blue, he was
simply irresistibly attractive not because of the shape of the nose or the
eyes or whatever. There are any number of people with good noses, good
eyes, and good bodies but they do not exude the same level of attraction. It
is the blueness of ones aura which suddenly makes a person irresistibly
attractive.
This blueness, this sense of all-inclusiveness in him was such that even
people who were sworn enemies of his sat with him and unwittingly gave
in to him. He was able to effortlessly turn around even people who abused
and plotted to kill him any number of times. There are various other
aspects to him but this blue nature constantly assisted him in everything
that he did. He was so irresistible that even Poothana, the assassin who
came to kill him when he was just a baby, fell in love with him. She was
with him for just a few minutes but she became completely entangled in
his blue magic.
Electrifying blue
There is another aspect to this. In terms of ones evolution, there are
various hues that ones aura can take. If we make the agna very important
in our sadhana, then orange will be the dominant color. That is the color of
renunciation, austerity, asceticism and kriya. If someone has a pure white
aura, that means this is a pure being. Such a persons presence will be
fantastic, but he will not be so action-oriented. When someone attains to
their highest but chooses to be active in the world, his aura will always be
electric blue. Anyone who was dynamic was blue. It is this type of aura
which allows you to function in the world in a way that other people think
is superhuman.
So instead of putting blue paint around Krishna, people said he was blue-
skinned because when those who were aware looked at him, he looked
blue and thats all thats important. When those who were unaware looked
at him, they saw his skin, but thats not important. The truth about his life
is more important for us than the facts about his life because the facts will
not make any difference in our lives, but the truth makes a difference in

do not seems to be a correct explanation. Krishna is blue because Krishna does
not have body, the body of Krishna is concentrated Ether......concentrated ether
is deadly poisonous to human beings while elixir to Gods......Gods do need food,
air, water, or Fire, they are charged by Ether or Eashwar..... The colour of ether
as the Akaasha tatwa tells us is blue..........and therefore its concentration is
Krishnavarna........all gods have to be blue unless they Wills otherwise....and
when they will they can manifest in any colour......

Putting Krishna in blue was indian way of showing that he not black which is the
wrong thought that kaliyug brought... krishna or krushna basically means black
and indeed krishna was pitch dark black... vithoba that maharashtrians value is
krishna and he is total pitch black... basically krishna is generalization of black
hole and not a person per se... just as black hole is able to absorb any wave of
any length or any particle big or small, krishna was able to absorb all the girls into
him and other people... the vishwaroop that krishna shows is the embodiment of
this very thing when he declares "now i am death the destroyer of world"... only
black hole can say this... so for me krishna is perfect black body devouring the
world... krishna was never blue but black or 'kaalaa'

this was a feel good article and answered some of my concerns. even in
spirituality, we still have a choice to be active in the world. that was all i needed
to know, as deep inside i always worried that i must lose my worldly concerns to
focus on the self. my concern has always been for others, not for myself, and my
heart used to break at seeing so many problems in the world, all man made, and
i couldn't do much about them. i want to be able to do both, without losing any
one of them. i feel better now.

It is said among all colors, the blue flame is the hottest energy wise.
The color of stillness exuding peace
Of the vast expanse on a cloudless day
Blue the sky and blue the rolling seas
And blue my Lord who put Arjuna in Gita's sway.....

we all can keep discussing and express our 1000s of views but there will be no
conclusion about shree Krishna. Its endless without conclusion so keep
discussing for self satisfaction because its difficult to know every thing about
shree krishna. Its like a 5 blinds judging the elephant by touching its parts.
Cheers.

"You will see in the existence, anything that is vast and beyond your perception
generally tends to be blue, whether it is the ocean or the sky." How amusing! The
sky and the oceans are blue because of Rayleigh scattering, which has nothing
to do with perception. And, no matter how vast and "beyond perception" outer
space is, it is pitch black, not blue, once we get out of the atmosphere.
But, never mind. It only says "generally tends to be".
Ofcourse it does.

Rama and Krishna were Blue/Black so that they were different from the general
crowd. There were different Gods in their appropriate roles as human beings or
animals who were assisting the Avatars in achieving their objectives such as to
reach and kill Ravana or Kamsa or helping the Pandavas to win the Mahabharata
War for Dharma Sthapna. It could be for these various Gods who were assisting
the Avatars that they should be able to recognize the Blue AURA of the Vishnu
Bhagwan in human form. Moreover a normal human being would be attracted
more to the White than the black because of his ego. God wanted to kill the ego
in the people and hence whoever liked Krishna even though his color was Blue/
Black were liberated and attained Moksha and freed from the cycle of Death and
re-birth.
