Executive summary:

The future internet concept arises as a result of social, economic and technical
needs. Internet technology is trying to reshaping its future, solve challenges,
structure of internet, connectivity, scalability and independent position. Several
problems are occurring in the development of internet infrastructure such as
trust, security, energy consumption, information networking and impact of shifting
bottlenecks.
Due to different choices and thinking of user’s future internet is trying to
provide new technology about new services like global information infrastructure,
creating substitutes for 3G and developing World Wide Web in a better way. Future
internet is newly serving cloud computing through Google which consider the best
service for users.
By focusing on information flow and leveraging mobility internet is trying to
solve the problems and challenges in future. For approaching the goal and mission
future internet must apply as a coordinate with different engaging and research
groups to make sure about vision and focus. To reach the goal I have also propose
some challenges, impact, critical issues and recommendations which can help in
improvement of future internet infrastructure.

Introduction:
Internet technology is becoming smarter, accessible and faster. Entire world is
progressively connected to the internet. As a result, Internet supported services
are entering a new phase of mass deployment which brings a huge number of new
opportunities but also new challenges in terms of scalability, capacity,
throughput, mobility and trust. Now days the Internet has become essential for a
wide range of areas such as health, ageing, energy efficiency, environmental
impact, transport, manufacturing, security etc.

Our societies and culture are becoming digital and we are moving towards a digital
world where all information exists in digital form for which we need to access it
in a way as the people want to access it. The future internet infrastructure needs
to adapt to the increasing demands and tackled from a holistic perspective by
taking into account all building blocks from users, services and applications down
to the networks.

There was problem in using 56 kb modems over telephone lines which can carry very
less data through the cables. But this problem is solved by connecting internet
via DSL lines, cables, satellite and wireless. Which increase the speed, making
the web more useful, provide video and telecommuting.

Importance of future internet infrastructure:

Some of the major trends which forecasting the future of internet and important
for the internet future are globalism, communities, virtual reality, bandwidth,
wireless, Grids and integration. The great benefit of internet infrastructure will
be lower cost which will be able to accommodate the whole generation of the world
easily. People can have access to any information they want and due to easy access
they will get smarter and will know what is going on outside their local
surrounding. Users will be able to make decisions at high level. National
boundaries will change into international boundaries and the whole earth will be
like one nation.
Future of internet will change the era of communication, all globally network will
be connected as local and the people will get advantage of group communication
tools like mailing lists, newspapers, websites etc. Internet will play a vital
role in bringing different communities into one community through social
networking and other internet application. With the help of internet people will
be able to have internet video phone and hyper-realistic gaming. One day internet
users will be able to have dinner with a group of friends each in different city.

According to BBC news channel, internet will be low cost network for billions of
devices in 2020 and will go beyond personal communication. By 2020 most mobile
network will provide one-gigabit per-second-minimum speed anywhere anytime. Saying
by Louis Nauges, president of Micro cost, that mobile phone will be dominant
Access tools and all application will come from internet, but not everyone

Internet is the important communication tool in Business and that’s why it becomes
more important in the future for the business. Due to high involvement of
businesses internet is focusing on more basics and important techniques such as
speed, links, search engine, URLS, affiliates programmes, graphic, friendly user
design, and contents etc. Internet technology is trying to resolve the problems
related with website like design and other main issues to solve and make it more

Future internet says that it’s just the beginning of internet and there are many
innovations and technology ahead. Computer to mobile every device is connected to
internet through different ways. Future internet infrastructure is planning to
bring together the most innovative and different system in short period of time.

Impact on business organisations:

Cloud computing is one of the big services providing by the future internet to
their users. It is quite simple and easy to access word, excel, and other software
anywhere everywhere. Recently Google joined IBM to promote cloud computing. Cloud
computing is having nothing wrong because it is a safe and cost effective. In
cloud computing you doesn’t need any special software or program to install or
buy, as you have to buy for your PC or laptop which is too costly. (Jonathan Weber

On other hand micro soft is trying to give a full cloud computing system in the
new version of window 7 which had launch on 22nd October 2009. They believe that
windows 7 will end all other eBooks, explorer, search engine and other windows.
Microsoft is offering more than one or two services such as emails, address books,
storage, collaboration tools and other business application. They are trying to

Spring announced that this is the future of internet infrastructure as over the
past couple of years and next several years a new architecture has taken place by
providing flexibility in internet, cloud services and virtualization. They believe
that they will be the leader in internet application infrastructure in this new

Internet become very wide in small time and the internet infrastructure was trying
to control the flow of internet access which was hard to control, but in future
the internet providers believe that their involvement in internet regulation will
be low. Because each country and organization will have to create their own
internet policies which can make the internet secure from terrorism and many other

Microsoft is also trying to expand their internet infrastructure and that’s why
they already spend $2 billion in 2006 on company internet infrastructure. Saying
by Debra Chrapaty that Microsoft is taking design into their own hand like
Google , further she explain that Microsoft is doing some unique things in mother

Critical issues and challenges:

In 2001 there was a difficult situation between rich and poor countries regarding
the impact of internet on inequality. A hope was there that Global Information
Infrastructure will reduce the poverty gap and remove many geographically issues
related to prosperity and equality. Problems like undersea cable system,
satellites and recycling used computers which are hazards for the human life. Due
to high cost of technology in developed countries they decided to provide it from
cheap countries like China, India, and Brazil etc. That’s how internet technology
is providing more facilities and many countries are able to generate their own

According to Ungoed Thomas (2003) virus and hackers cost about 1 million pounds by
damaging various computers and other internet software applications. That’s how a
small cleanup operation can cost 3000 pounds to 300000 pounds per virus infection,
which mean manager have to take care of the security and do not lick the
information which can cause damage. Information management and computer security
specialists are working hard to make it proper and defensive system. They are
trying to invent new system and software which can stop entering virus and hackers

Internet technology has tremendously growing as the mobile fastest growth has been
shown in the form of 2G, 2.5 G and 3G. Since the WLAN is getting more expensive
and spreading fast, mobile phones are trying to solve their existing solution with
WLAN. Connecting with WLAN through phones is possible inside homes, firms and
other public places but impossible to carry on outside with no range of such
technology. There are many others technologies such as WIMAX and MANET but still

There were conflict between use of the internet and securing the internet.
Internet technology is becoming more secure like health card could identify
individual, reducing and removing fraud. It can be used for general information or
police can use it for criminal information. Future internet technology is trying

In 1999 consumer have different beliefs about food shopping on the internet and
due to this www.webvan.com in the USA failed with more than $122 million in
initial funding. As computer infrastructure is becoming more popular now and

This article explains that internet can satisfy their end users by focusing on the
establishment of management and commercialization. It has to apply both past and
future theory and focus primarily on the internet interconnection infrastructure.
If the internet infrastructure is driven solely by commercial concerns then the

Conclusion:
Internet is a critical backbone of the society and it is becoming more important
for every sector in society which gives more important to the future of internet
infrastructure like network technology, new terminals, usage of modems etc. Future
internet is providing more security and safety as the world is becoming wider and
bigger. People are getting smarter due to which future internet is making internet
more easily accessible and providing enough information for their users. Future
internet is trying to do more invention and changes in different department such
as communication tools, mobile technology, high information and low cost network
so users can have more option for doing their work.
Suggestions:
Future internet infrastructure need to re-design their structure and maintain a
proper management. Get proper hold on security, provide better services, build
trust and improve mobile wireless networking. Future internet should provide
mobile security, virtualisation, robot networks and broadband radio which can make
technology better. Citizen living standard, information networking, energy
consumption etc are other factors where internet has to improve more.
