Overview
The SmartAX MA5600/MA5603 (MA5600 series) is a GE architecture-based IP broadband access
device. Characterized with powerful broadband service processing capability, diversified services,
distinctive line optimization capability, and environmental-friendly and energy-saving design with
high efficiency, the SmartAX MA5600/MA5603 provides a strong support for customers to
construct superior broadband networks.
Features
The main features of the MA5600/MA5603 include diversified interface types, flexible network
topology, comprehensive security assurance measures, carrier-class reliability design, and
superior manageability and maintainability functions.
Plug-and-play service provisioning mode
The configuration of the MA5600/MA5603 can be issued remotely. Therefore, the management
channel and the service channel are set up immediately after the MA5600/MA5603 is powered on
and registers with the OLT; manual configuration on site is not required. That is, the
MA5600/MA5603 supports plug-and-play service provisioning.
Dynamic line optimization function
The MA5600/MA5603 works with the N2510 line assurance system to support the DLM (dynamic
line management) and DSM (dynamic spectrum management) features. The N2510 uses the
optimization profile to optimize the line profile of the MA5600/MA5603 so as to provide dynamic
optimization for lines.
Comprehensive security assurance measures
The MA5600/MA5603 meets the security requirements of the telecommunication customer
services, fully uses the security protocols, and takes the following measures to ensure the
security of the system and the user: -Anti-DoS attack (system security) -Anti-ICMP attack (system
security) -User Layer 2 isolation (user security)-Access control based on IP address segment
(user security)
Carrier-class reliability design
In terms of system design, the MA5600/MA5603 complies with the carrier-class reliability
specifications and provides comprehensive abnormality handling capability; the MA5600/MA5603
supports the fault recovery feature and the mean time between failures (MTBF) is larger than
150000 h; the MA5600/MA5603 passes the ESD test and adopts the lightning-proof and anti-
interference design.
In terms of hardware design, backup is provided for important hardware units; the
MA5600/MA5603 supports the switchover of active/standby control boards, and provides
protection and backup for the upstream link; all service boards and the control boards are hot
swappable.
In terms of software design, the MA5600/MA5603 complies with the modularized and platform-
based design concept, and adopts the loosely coupled design for each software module. The
MA5600/MA5603 supports in-service smooth software upgrade.
In terms of heat dissipation design, the heat dissipation system adopts a redundancy design to
ensure that the system services are normal when a single fan is faulty; the MA5600/MA5603
supports hot swappable maintenance and fan speed control.
Superior maintainability and manageability functions
The MA5600/MA5603 supports various NMS functions and various maintenance and
management measures to manage terminals. The MA5600/MA5603 supports various
maintenance features, and the NMS interfaces can be used by customers in unified and
multidimensional management control. In addition, the functions of security management,
environment monitoring, and performance statistics also provide assurance and information for
routine maintenance and fault diagnosis of the system.
