Introduction
Veneta Isolatori
is a leader company specialised in the production of MV epoxy resin insulators for electrical and
electromechanical industry. The company was established in 1974, in 1990 it became a subsidiary
of COMEM S.p.A, leader in oil transformer component and solution. In 2009 all the activities were
moved to a new factory located in Ceggia close to Venice.
The long experience achieved by Veneta Isolatori gave the possibility to develop a wide range of
products, having suitable and tested electrical and mechanical technical characteristics. Recently
the company has also developed insulators in silicon rubber for outdoor installation. Nowadays
Veneta Isolatori represents a reference point for many of electrical companies, that use Veneta
Isolatori partnership for the development and realisation of insulators according to their own
basic design. The export, almost 50% of the total production, cover a winde range of countries
and MV application.
3
Certification
The Quality System conforms to the ISO 9001 Standards, the Environmental Management System
conforms to the ISO 14001 Standards and the Health and Safety Management System conforms to
the OHSAS 18001 Standards, also regarding application in building site activities. All the systems are
certified by an external independent organisation.
Laboratories
The Unit has internal laboratories equipped with state-of-theart apparatus for carrying out tests on
materials, experimental, climatic, mechanical life, dielectric and partial discharge.
Operation
Each design parameter is known, measured and recorded for each piece of insulator produced, so
that their functional suitability can be declared in accordance with what is prescribed in the Standards.
Production is also supported by lines which operate using the fabrication system with functional blocks.
Thanks to thi s i nnovati ve system, the producti on l i nes can outfi t each typi cal uni t wi th maxi mum
efficiency and speed.

Voltage presence indicators
General characteristics
The voltage presence indicators are devices used to supply information about the main
circuit status inside the equipment where the devices are installed. To each lamp placed
inside the indicator (L1 L2 L3) corresponds one phase of the input line. The line voltage
presence is indicated by switching of the relevant lamp. The signal of voltage presence
necessary to switch the lamps is sourced out by a capacitive coupling with an insulator
equipped with capacitive output.
Application
In MV cubicles for operating voltages from 1 to 36 kV.
Type SF
The indicator SF is a light signal device made of one single
fix part. The indicator is equipped with a safety system,
composed of one gas arrester for each phase, which
connects the system to ground in case of overvoltage
> 600 V. The arresters are self-resetting, this means that at
the end of the discharge the device will start again to function
normally.
Type SC
The indicator SC is a light signal device made of one fix part
and one mobile and removable part. The lamps are placed
in the mobile part. The indicator is equipped with a safety
system, composed of one gas arrester for each phase, which
connects the system to ground in case of overvoltage > 600
V. The arresters are self-resetting, this means that at the
end of the discharge the device will start again to function
normally.

an insulator equipped with capacitive output.
Application
In MV cubicles for operating voltages from 1 to 36 kV.
Type SCD
The indicator SCD is a light signal device made of one single
fix part. Below each lamp there are relevant contact holes
which allow to verify the phase accordance between two or
more equipments, through the use of a phase accordance
device DCF 6500. The indicator is equipped with a safety
system, composed of one gas arrester for each phase, which
connects the system to ground in case of overvoltage >
600 V. The arresters are self-resetting, this means that at the
end of the discharge the device will start again to function
normally. The signal device SCD can be used even to read a
low input signal.
Phase accordance device DCF 6500
Thanks to the phase accordance device DCF 6500 it
is possible to verify if the lamps L1 (or L2 or L3) of two
indicators SCD 5500 placed on two different equipments
are connected to the same phase. When the phases are in
accordance the lamp of the device DCF 6500 is off, while in
case of non accordance of the phases the lamp is on.
Type SCB
The indicator SCB is a light signal device made of one fix part
and one mobile and removable part. The lamps are placed
in the mobile part. The indicator is equipped with a safety
system, composed of one gas arrester for each phase, which
connects the system to ground in case of overvoltage > 600
V. The arresters are self-resetting, this means that at the The
signal box SCB is used to read a low input signal.
Type SDY
The signal device SDY is realized according to ENEL (National
Power Company) specification DY 811. It is made of 1 front
board base and of 3 mobile parts, one for each phase,
equipped with removable and separated light indicators.
The fix part is suitable to be connected with RG DAT
monitoring device, according to Enel specification DY 1059.

Assembling instructions
Bushing insulator PRB
Prepare the holes on the body of the tank as indicated in the steelwork holes Lay-out. Remove the paint, or any insulating coat
in the area of fixing holes, in order to guarantee a correct earth connection of the bushing.
Moreover, make sure that the surface where the bushing is placed is without any type of roughness or unevenness. It must be
completely clean in order to guarantee a perfect tightness. It is recommended to use the fixing flange in order to strengthen the
area where the bushing is fixed to the tank. For 400A version the use of the flange is necessary for mobile connector fastening.
Place the flange, when used, and tighten the 3 fixing screws M6, together with their relevant washers, with a tightening force
value of 911 Nm. The tightening operation must be done crosswise. The lower connection (M16) must be fastened with a
tightening force value of 90100 Nm.
During mounting operations the plastic protective cap must be fitted and pressed right down on the bushing, in order to avoid
faults caused by dirt or accidental scratching of the interface.

Assembling instruction
PGS bushing (Fig. 1 and 2):
Drill the holes on the body of the tank as indicated (9).
Remove the paint, or insulating coat, in the area of the
fixing fastener holes in order to guarantee a correct earth
connection of the bushing.
Moreover make sure that the surface where the bushing
holds is without any type of roughness, or unevenness and
it must be perfectly clean in order to guarantee a perfect
tightness of the flat gaskets.
Place the bushing (7) on the metal structure after having
positioned the gasket (8). Place the aluminium flange
(10) inside the tank and tighten the six fixing screws (11)
together with the relevant washers with a tightening force
value of 911 Nm. The tighting of the screws must be done
crosswise. The lower connection to the M10 threaded hole
must be fixed with a tightening force value of 3035 Nm.
Silicon rubber protection (Fig. 3 and 4):
Remove the plastic protective cover (4) from the bushing.
The plastic protective cover must be fitted and pressed
right down on the bushing always when:
the bushing is not connected to the movable connector;
the bushing does not have silicon rubber protection.
This prevents faults caused by dirty or incidental scratching
of the interface (6).
Clean with alcohol the interface (6) and the area of contact
with the silicon rubber protection (3).
After the complete evaporation of the solvent, spread
evenly over the connection interface (6) the grease
contained in the enclosed pocket (5).
Pull the silicon rubber protection (3) on the bushing (7)
and screw down tightly until maximum torque is obtained
(90100 Nm). This can be done with the aid of a 20
mm spanner used on the top cap (2). The silicon rubber
protection is correctly clamped if the bushing is totally
covered with it.
Turn the silicon rubber protection slightly to the left and to
the right to distribuite grease evenly over the connection
interface (6).

Type BSL
Composite insulators for line switches
General characteristics
The composite insulators type BSL are suitable to be used in MV line switches.
These insulators are realized with a fiberglass and epoxy resin core and aluminium end
fittings and covered by silicon rubber. This material gives best performances for an outdoor
use: abrasion resistance against UV rays, in environements with very high pollution level and
with high salinity concentration. Silicon is unbreakable and hidrophobic. It is not necessary
to plan any maintenance operation, even in particularly difficult environement conditions.
Application
Outdoor line switches.
