Q: What is Cisco announcing related to the CCNP?


A: The renaming of CCNP and new exams for ROUTE, SWITCH and TSHOOT.
Q: What is the new name of the CCNP Certication?
A: CCNP will be rebranded as CCNP Routing and Switching Certication.
Q: Why did Cisco rename CCNP to CCNP Routing and Switching?
A: Technology advancements and changes in job requirements have led to an increased focus
on routing and switching technologies, Cisco therefore decided to rebrand bringing the
certication in line with other technology focused professional level certications.
Q: What are the main changes?
A: Wireless, VoIP and Video content has been removed, IPv6 expanded and Cisco StackWise, VSS
and DMVPN technologies added.
Q: I am currently a valid CCNP. How can I achieve CCNP Routing and Switching?
A: If you are currently a CCNP, you will automatically become a CCNP Routing and Switching in the
Cisco database. When you recertify, you will get your CCNP Routing and Switching badge.
Q: Are the CCNP Routing and Switching exams changing?
A: Yes. The exams are changing to reect the refresh of the CCNP curriculum. The current
exams will end-of-life on 30

Q: Can I mix and match the current exams with the newer exams to achieve CCNP Routing
and Switching?
A: Yes you can, Although whilst it is possible to mix version 1 and version 2 exams, the
TSHOOT v2 exam assumes knowledge of ROUTE v2 and SWITCH v2 topics. So candidates
who have completed version 1 exams for ROUTE or SWITCH will need to review version 2
blueprints in order to prepare for the TSHOOT v2 exam.

Q: I am new to CCNP Routing and Switching. Which version of the exams should I take?
A: If you are starting the CCNP Routing and Switching Certication, it is recommended that you take the
newer exams as the revised exams are better aligned with current job roles. Students typically need 3-6
months preparation per exam making it difcult to complete before the version 1 exams go End of Life.
Although it is possible to mix version 1 and version 2 exams, the TSHOOT v2 exam assumes knowledge
of ROUTE v2 and SWITCH v2 topics. So candidates who have completed version 1 exams for ROUTE or
SWITCH will need to review version 2 exam topics in order to prepare for the TSHOOT v2 exam.
Q: What training is available to help me prepare for the new exams?
A: The best way to train is with instructor-led training offered by Authorised Cisco Learning Partners.

Ciscos CCNP Certication is one of the most recognised certications in the industry, evolving over recent years to include specic technology focused tracks; it should therefore be no surprise that Cisco
have just announced a refresh of its agship CCNP curriculum. The CCNP Certication has been re-branded to Cisco Certied Network Professional Routing and Switching Certication. All three courses have
been updated and new exams introduced. The re-design has removed wireless, voip and video content and expanded IPv6. Cisco StackWise, VSS and DMVPN technologies have been added. Full details of the
