PREPARATION


Teacher asks the students whether they have heard about prisms.
Also ask what are the characteristics of a prism and give examples for the prism
Teacher shows some models of prism. And ask the students t name it.
Teacher take a rectangular prism then ask the students what are the characteristics
Of a rectangular prism. Then the teacher ask the students she has to over the
Rectangular prism with a colour paper then how to find the size of the paper?
For finding this to find the total surface area of a rectangular prism.

DEVELOPMENT

Teacher groups the students
Teacher gives a rectangular prism for all the groups, then the teacher asks them to cut it.
Teacher present a slide











The surface area f the rectangular prism is the total area of the 6 faces.
Then the teacher asked the the students to find the areas of 1

Surface area = bh+ lh + bh + lh + lb + lb
= 2lb + 2lh + 2bh
= 2(lb + lh + bh)

If a rectangular prism has length 5c.m.breadth 3c.m, and height 7c.m. then
find the surface area.




Surface area = 2(lb+lh+bh)
=2(5*3+5*7+3*7)
=2*71
=142c.m2
