INTRODUCTION
SYMPOSIUM ON GROWTH AND PROSPECTS OF MSME -
Micro Small & Medium scale Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of the Indian economy as
these enterprises contribute to more than 40% of India's total exports and more than 45% of
the country's industrial output. Such enterprises employ the largest number of people, second
only to the agriculture sector. There have been several attempts to address the challenges
faced by various Governments in the past. These challenges include accessing markets-
international and domestic, credit facilities, accessing modern technology, accessing skilled
manpower and deficiencies in the infrastructure.
To analyze and develop a thorough understanding, it requires focused support and a concerted
effort from multiple stakeholders. Our symposium is keen to focus on keys issues with
observation and recommendations from the experts and professionals of this field.

OBJECTIVES
To generate awareness and sensitivity towards micro small & medium enterprises of the
country
To address various issues & problems in order to boost MSME sector
To provide extensive knowledge to participants on Government programmes and
suggested policies to overcome challenges of small scale industries
To control and harness the systems and stakeholders to ensure maximum efficiency
and productivity
To highlight and share the latest technologies available to simplify the process of setting
up of new enterprises and smooth running of the existing enterprises
NIESBUD will publish the best papers out of the entries received
Papers selected by the chair of the conference will be compiled in the form of a book
with an ISBN number.
MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT
MSME Ministry launches job portal: Union Minister Shri. Kalraj Mishra launched a job
portal designed and developed by The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small
Business Development (NIESBUD)
MSME Ministry launches online shopping portal : This portal is exclusively dedicated to
Indian MSMEs to sell retail products as well as industrial equipment online and is slated
to serve as a low-cost marketing platform
(MSME) and Samsung entered in to a partnership to set up Technical Schools in MSME
Technology Centers across India. Under the MoU, 10 MSME-Samsung technical schools
will be set up across the nation
MSME Ministry is now on social sites like Facebook & Twitter- All policy decisions and

programmes of the ministry will be posted on Twitter and Facebook.

The Online Finance Facilitation Centre for SMEs has been established to provide
advisory and credit facilitation support to SMEs. It will operate as a one-stop-shop,
congregating financing options from various major financial institutions

In the Pipeline
Government is mulling launching of district-level incubation centers across the country
to revitalize the MSME sector.
Government is keen to revise MSME definition
The government is soon to introduce a new policy for MSME sector for which the
ministry is working and holding discussions with MSME related associations.

concerned organizations (such as KVIC, NSIC, DC-MSME, Coir Board, IIE, MGIRI, CCRI, NI-MSME)
and stakeholders including regulatory authorities, financial institutions, corporate leaders &
investors, small and medium enterprises, technology providers, and MSMEs domain experts
who will give us an insight to further strengthen the MSME sector

"NIESBUD will publish the best papers out of the entries received"
Papers are invited on the subject/ topics of the Symposium with specific suggestions and
recommendations for selection through the NIESBUD Research Committee.
The Selected papers will be compiled in the form of a book with an ISBN number.
Published Papers will also find place in the special issue of our latest edition referred to
as NIESBUD Newsletter
Papers must be in Microsoft Word version with the specific Font: Times New Roman,
