1.a) What are the properties of discrete Fourier transform? Explain

three of them in detail.
b) Determine the eight-point DFT of the signal
x(n) = {1,1,1,1,1,1,0,0} and sketch its magnitude and phase.

2.a) Derive the signal flow graph for the N=16 point, radix-4
decimation-in-frequency FFT algorithm in which the input
sequence is in digit-reversed order and the output DFT is in
normal order.
b) Explain the importance of the chirp-z transform algorithm in
detail.

3. An IIR digital low pass filter is required to the following

specifications:
Pass band ripple : ≤ 0.5dB
Pass band edge : 1.2kHz
Stop band attenuation : ≥ 40dB
Stop band edge : 2.0 kHz
Sample rate : 8 kHz.
Design a) a digital Butter worth filter b) a digital chebyshev filter
using above specifications.

4. Consider an FIR lattice filter with coefficients

K1 = 0.65, K2 = -0.34, and K3 = 0.8.
a) Find its impulse response by tracing a unit impulse input
through the lattice structure.
b) Draw the equivalent direct form structure and indicate all
the parameters of the system.

5.a) Describe the process of upsampling by an integer factor say ‘I’ with
suitable example.
b) Consider the signal x(n) = an u(n), |a|<1.
