    100 Years After Her Death, Martha, the Last Passenger Pigeon, Still Resonates


    Summary

    Many birds moving made noonday was obscured in the eastern USA in
    Kentucky in 1813. According to John James Audubon was traveling on
    horseback from his home in Louisville Henderson, "The air was literally filled
    with pigeons"

    These passenger pigeons were beautiful .The males were distinguished from
    females because they had blue-gray back and wings, with a chest of copper
    color. The passenger pigeons had become a source of food and deforestation
    were some of the causes that generate extinction. The last passenger pigeon
    named Martha and never lived in the wild only she lived in zoo of Cincinnati
    where she died on September 1914. Today she is in a museum as dissected in
    the National History Museum in Washington DC.

    In recent years and with the advancement of science some molecular
    biologists believe that it could raise the passenger pigeon with bird genome
    with genetic engineering Some scientists are convinced that technology is
    possible and other scientists disagree with it because it will never be possible
    to restore an extinct species whose habitat has been lost permanently.
    Jonathan Coddington thinks it will be a challenge and that genetic engineering
    will help the conservation and biodiversity in the next years.

    Personal Opinion

    In these last years, the concern for the human species in danger of
    extinction and pollution. I think that human wants to remedy the damage
    caused. However, it is very difficult to be a great challenge but one
    advance for other endangered species.

    My opinion is that the man should worry the planet and species are now
    in danger alert. In the case of Peru, in the jungle has a biodiversity also
    has these problems for some species.
