COURSE REGULATIONS:

1. Course Ethics: While students are developing their practice as counsellors we request that they adhere to this
simple ethical code to keep themselves and those they work with safe:
The fundamental ethical principles of the counsellor-client relationship are that the counsellor shall:
Approach their work in the spirit of a vocation
Honour the subjectivity of the counselling experience
Honour the clients subjectivity, views, beliefs, ideas, goals
Respect commonly understood boundaries, and
Be able to undertake a rigorous self-examination on their work and practice
2. Code of Conduct online: please see this document which outlines standards of behaviour and conduct online,

3. Confidentiality issues: all material discussed in forums, in chat and by email will be confidential to course students
and staff only. One to one email supervision and/or chat will be confidential to the student and staff member
concerned. Online discussions will be confidential to the student group. Any student or staff member found to
compromise the confidentiality of discussions/ supervision may be subject to disciplinary procedures.

4. Attendance requirements- students are expected to evidence online attendance via regular 1-2 times weekly
positing in discussion forums, and in supervised practice.
Credits accumulated for the Diploma: 30- 850 HOURS in total comprised of online delivery of tuition, supervision,
self-directed study, participation in discussions, forums and online presentations, retreat and daily meditation
practice. For a breakdown of hours see below:

A minimum of 216 hours of online content will be delivered as teaching material by audio, text, video links.
Online presentations- each student will have make online presentation for Sutta Studies and their
dissertation- preparation time and presentation: 15 hours reading/research/ writing for online presentation
and 60 hours research and writing for dissertation: 75 hours in total.
Online discussion- students are expected to participate and post in asynchronous seminar discussions online
at least weekly, but preferably twice weekly minimum: 3 hours reading /posting a week: 114 hours in total.
Self-directed study: students are expected to read widely in the subject area and research their essay
assignments and dissertations independently with minimal supervision : 3 essays : 60 hours in total
Meditation practice: - students will be expected to keep a meditation journal and record their experiences of
working with their own minds in meditation practice under supervision from Bhante Buddharakkhita.
Meditation practice of 30 minutes a day and journaling weekly- 5 hours a week : 230 hours in total
Clinical/ practical homework- students will be asked to complete a 'case study' project reflecting upon
practical applications of the their growing meditation and or mindfulness practice in their workplace/ clinical
practice under supervision from Dr Jo Nash and Dr Chandrasekera : 35 hours study and writing time.
Retreat: 3 days orientation and 2 days closure retreat or credits from previous retreats: 120 hours.
