Welding
Familiar with welding processes like SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW and related process.
Reviewing and commenting on subcontractors submitted welding and QC procedures prior to submission to field
quality manager and company.
Monitoring welding parameters, pre-heating & interpass temperatures as per approved WPS.
Providing information on material and weld traceability and NDT to check on welder performance, use of
consumables, welding machines, WPS etc.
Checking approved PWHT procedure is available, witness PWHT and review of Heat Treatment Chart.
Organizing and conducting inspection of fabrication items prior to painting by carrying out visual inspection for
welding and materials for finish and appearance.
Witness the processing of mechanical tests at the test house approved by the client. Verification of the witnessed
mechanical tests in the detailed report in which the results are collated.
Supervision of welders tests as they are performed to ensure compliance with the approved procedure and
specification throughout.
Determine the acceptability or not by visual means during and after the test.
Supervising and inspecting the joint preparation geometry and alignment. The welding electrode type and storage
conditions will also be checked against the specification and/or manufacturers recommendations.
Supervising welding processes to ensure that the correct polarity, voltage and current is being used. The currents
should be determined by means of tong meter tests. Also that the welding speed is within procedure requirements.
Offers assistance to the radiographic interpreter regarding repairs required to welds and also supervise and visually
inspect all weld repair operations carried out in accordance with the client approved weld procedure.
Make sure that completed welds are properly clean and free from oil, grease, weld spatter before x-ray on U/T/
Ensuring density and sensitivity of the radiograph and recording the findings.
Interpretation of radiographs of acceptable quality to the client approved specification and to recommend
acceptance or rejection of the weld.
Responsibility for ensuring that called up repair areas on rejected welds are adequately marked up
Interpretations of radiographs of acceptable quality after weld repairs have been completed.
Calling for verification and/or clarification of defects by means of ultrasonics to further establish the extent and
nature of a particular defect.
Piping Operations
Carrying out spot checks on radiography interpretation, cross checking ultrasonic testing and witness MPI and LPI
testing of weld.
Monitoring installation and testing of pipe work, valves, and other piping items. Review hydro test package, carry
out inspection of the lines prior to testing.
Monitoring / coordinating related NDT activities for piping & structural works.

Drawings and Specifications. Reading ,intrept and evaluation of codes. Knowledge of welding symbols and of
welding definitions and terminology.Regarding Base Material and Welding Materials. Instructs students on base
materials and their weldabability ability characteristics and on welding filler metal types and characteristics.
