KMaya knowledge engagement programs
(2007 2014) had resulted in library
professionals sharing their experiences on topics
that are related to the profession. In 2012
Knowledge Connections had developed KMaya,
an online knowledge sharing portal to capture
these experiences via online social networking
tools. Our forays in knowledge sharing had
resulted in creating a channel for online learning
and a platform in building the library
knowledge networks.

Highlights:

KMaya Participation in two international
seminars A_LEIPH (Thailand) and
IFLA (Singapore) in 2013.

Building the Cataloguing domain with
more than 100 Cataloguing practitioners
sharing their experiences in multiple
brainstorming labs (Feb 2013 Oct
2014).

Developing insights for a new domain in
library promotion - the next CoP
September workshop hosted by the
Sabah State Library.

Establishment of the KMaya
Way which is the knowledge
sharing model being
implemented in the public sector
communities.

Topic of discussion:

Developing library
professionals: The influence of
communities of practice
highlighting The KMaya Way
of:

*Engaging with peers and
like-minded professionals to
resolve issues; *Developing
competencies beyond the
four walls; *Gaining
professional recognition and
reputation through proactive
contributions;
*Building trust and establish
modes of belonging to a
common subject; and
*Translating knowledge,
experiences and insights into
shared practices and build the knowledge
base.
