A MONTHLY PUBLICATION FROM ROLLA FIRST ASSEMBLY // OCTOBER 2014

Jeff and I were married in 1986. He has been a painting contractor for
over 25 years. I am a homemaker/secretary for the business, and I have
homeschooled all of our children.
We have four children. Josh, our oldest,
is 26. He is married and is a chef in the St.
Louis area. Our other son, Jake, is 21. He is
attending Northeastern University. Anna is 19
and is our oldest daughter. She is working for
the family business. Alisha is 16 and our
youngest daughter. She is a junior and works
at The Centre in Rolla. I homeschooled our
four children, except for Jacob, as he wanted
to play baseball. There are a lot of different adventures in homeschooling. I
enjoyed being able to spend time with my children as they grew up.
Jeff was diagnosed with kidney failure about 10 years ago and has been
on kidney dialysis since then. He has had many struggles with his health
through the years. When he had open heart surgery in 2010, he had compli-
cations and had to stay in the hospital for three months. With the complica-
tions, he had to learn how to walk again. He also had a cardiac arrest in 2012.
But God was faithful and He pulled him through. Pastor Chuck and Annette,
along with many church members and families, were praying for us during
these hard times. We are thankful for the many prayers and support from the
church. We have stood on the word of God through these times. We give God
all the praise for what He has done.
Jeff started his own business over 25 years ago. He has enjoyed owning
his own business. He is still able to work even being on hemodialysis. The
majority of people on dialysis do not work. The Lord gives him strength every
day. I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.

Childrens Choir
Childrens ministries has once again begun practic-
es for our annual Christmas musical.
This years performance will be An-
gels Aware!. This super musical
is set in heaven and features an-
gel characters. Gabriel calls a
meeting to announce God's plan
to send His Son to Earth. The an-
gels are shocked to learn that
Jesus will be sent to Earth as a baby.
Practices are on Sunday evenings from 4
5:30pm in The Upper Room (room 300) for children
aged 5 years old through 8th Grade. A few things
that we would like to remind you of if you decide to
join us: the child needs to listen to
the musical throughout the week;
the child must make it to every
practice possible; and the dress
rehearsals are mandatory. Our
performance dates are Satur-
day, December 6, and Sunday,
December 7 at 6pm. If you
have any questions, please
contact Beverly Feller, who will be
directing this years performance.

PRACTICES BEGINNING FOR CHRISTMAS MUSICALS
Adult Choir
Majesty of Heaven is a beautifully crafted retelling
of the miraculous events of
that first Christmas. Our Fa-
ther in Heaven bridged the
chasm between His Majesty
and our humanity when He
sent His only Son, the Majes-
ty Of Heaven. This musical
features songs by Chris Tom-
lin, Steven Curtis Chapman,
Shannon Wexelberg, Steve
Green, Jay Rouse, Randy
Vader, Buddy Greene and
Darryl K. Williams. We will
present Majesty of Heaven in
mid-December from the Living Christmas Tree;
these popular performances generally draw a
standing-room-only crowd!
Practices began last week, but there is room
for more in the choir. Practices are weekly, on
Sunday evenings from 4 5:30pm. Performanc-
es will be on the evenings of December 12, 13,
and 14. Information about special parts will be an-
nounced at practice when available. Please con-
tact Betty May at bmay18@gmail.com if you have
any questions.
Attention Nursery worker or those planning on
signing up to help: On Sunday, October 5 we will
be holding a training luncheon for all who can at-
tend. We will start around
12:30pm and be covering
using the check-in system,
rules and regulations and
scheduling for the new
year. We will also be tak-
ing some time to introduce
our new Nursery Coordina-
tor Cassie Lane and allow-
ing for time to ask any
questions you may have.
Please contact Cassie Lane, Pastor Brian and
Beverly or the church office and let us know if you
will be attending so we can plan for the appropri-
ate amount of food and drinks. Thanks for all that
you do to serve the least of these in the body of
Christ!

On Sunday, October 19, Rolla First Assembly
will take a few minutes to recognize the founda-
tion of our Christian Education Ministry, Sunday
School. We will likewise recognize a few individu-
als who have devoted themselves to years of
teaching and facilitating instruction to young
and younger alike. The Word of God is clear
about the primacy and importance of knowledge
and study;

15
The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge,
for the ears of the wise seek it out.
Proverbs 18:15 New International Version (NIV)

For many years, the ministry of Sunday
NURSERY TRAINING OFFERED
THIS MONTH: CHRISTIAN EDUCATION SUNDAY
School at Rolla First Assembly has edified and
equipped its members and visitors with anointed
teachers. God has favored our Church family with
capable, sincere, altruistic, and devoted men and
women willing to
take up the
st andar d of
teaching and
guiding our mem-
bers to a deeper
understanding of
Gods Word. It
cannot be over-
s t a t e d h o w
bl essed our
Church family is
to have such a vibrant outreach impacting and
instilling Kingdom knowledge to all of us!
But it is not just the teachers that make our
Sunday School ministry so effective for it would
not be such a success without the active partici-
pation of our members and guests. Our Sunday
School attendance is significantly above average
for a church our size, and this speaks directly to
the desire we have to build one another up, as
well as serving as a reliable barometer gauging
our common thirst for knowledge.
So please plan on joining us on Sunday, Oc-
tober 19, as we celebrate Gods marvelous provi-
sion in the area of Christian Education. If you
havent attended a Sunday School class recently,
let me invite you to try one out this Sunday! We
have a full lineup of interesting and information-
packed classes that would certainly be time well
spent!
In the Kings Service,
Joseph Cunningham,
Christian Education Coordinator

Saturday morning, with

through 7th Grade. Fathers are welcome to

mentoring boys who are a part of our church
body. Be sure to bring a Nerf gun if you have

ONLINE CREATIONIST RESOURCES
Ive been having fun. Missouri Association for Creation (mocreation.org) sent me a link with a list of cre-
ation websites, and Ive been checking them out. Wow! So many excellent creation resources are available
online. For example:
Northwest Creation Network sponsors these websites:
CreationWiki is a free educational encyclopedia that has been written from the creationist worldview; it has
over 5800 articles in English. Check out Naturalism (you must understand this concept in order to under-
stand the creation vs. evolution debate) or the Recent Headlines from both Christian and secular sources.
For example, Bad News for the Big Bang: Secular Scientists Claim Universe Shouldnt Exist was reported by
Christian News Network on June 24, 2014.
Nwcreation.net/booksonline.html has over 100 FREE online creation books. Do you think proteins formed by
themselves in an organic soup? Check out Scientific Evidence that God Created Life by Thomas Heinze
on this list.
Nwcreation.net under Free Educational Resources has over 100 videos as well as audios and PowerPoint
files. Check out Bruce Malones excellent eye-opening video: Astounding Evidence for a Young Earth: How
Dating Methods Work.
Creation Ministries International sponsors Creation.com. Scroll down and click on the square to view the
trailer for the DVD documentary of Evolutions Achilles Heels: Exposing Evolutions Fatal Flaws. In the full
DVD, fourteen Ph.D. scientists debunk the theory of evolution from their fields of study including genetics, the
origin of life, the fossil record, radiometric dating and more. The world premiere is October 17! Scroll down a
little more on this website to click on the Free Resources Books and Study Guides, Tracts and Brochures
and Parents Corner.
Creationism.org has links to creation societies and Christian resources in many states, countries and over 80
languages. Do you have friends whose primary language is Arabic, Chinese, Spanish or Zulu? Refer them to
this website and the language links. Do you need a primer in the creation vs. evolution debate? Scroll down
to Evolution 101 and study the 25 lessons written by Dr. Jolly F. Griggs. For example, see Lesson 1
Evolution is Built on Lies, Lesson 9 A Pig Makes a Monkey out of Evolutionists or Lesson 11 The Geologi-
cal Column is only in the Textbooks.
And, finally, for our engineering friends, try out CreationEngineeringConcepts.org by J.D. Mitchell, a registered
professional engineer. The theme of this website is The Universe Looks Designed Because It Is. Articles in-
clude Whales and Fairy Tales, How Evolution Works and Prehistoric Animals and Prehistoric Man.
Now its your turn to have fun. Go to your computer and check out some of these great resources. But its
more than fun. Become informed and armed for the intellectual and spiritual battle we face in this arena.
God bless you as you do it!

If you are interested in learning how better minister to those in our church body and community who
have special needs, we will be having a conference here at the church on Saturday, November 15th from
9am-3pm. Our guest speakers for the day will be Jonathan and Rebecca Hosack along with Pam Calvin.
Jonathan and Rebecca lead Through The Roof Ministries in Springfield, a group dedicated to serving
and including people with disabilities into the local church. Pam Calvin is the wife of Southern Missouri Dis-
tricts Christian Education and Children's Ministries director Jim Calvin. She currently works in the Spring-
field Public School system, and is the mother of a child with special needs. She brings her unique perspec-
tive and knowledge on how to best minister to them.
So come and be a part of an amazing time of fellowship, information sharing and growing in a way that
you may never have thought about! We will provide a light breakfast, lunch, and snacks throughout the day.
