But a matchstick is not long!
How do you know that?
Because Ive seen and read about matchsticks in a book.

ORIGINAL: Alright then. Humm... grandpa was very big, HUGE.

Like a giant?

Yes, like a giant. It was always very difficult when he came over to our house. Because He didnt fit
anywhere, he always had to stay outside. Watching television through a window ... .

No! Grandpa wasnt nothing like that! Grandpa was a great inventor. Ah, yes! Thats it! I remember
now. He also had other professions.
Start over!

ahead for his time.

The truth is that he had to be always doing something. It was an adventure to spend the day with
him. We did many things together.

There was the grandpa buoy;

Indeed, and the grandpa recycler too.

And the winner grandpa: he always wins every Ping-Pong championship.

He also used to sing in the shower.

In the shower doesnt matter! You are getting away from the main story.

a troubling situation, very messy. A river in our kitchen, pieces and
screws everywhere. What a big mess!

Then, he shouts triumphantly: EUREKA! Again? That was not what grandpa shouted. Yes, it was!
No, it wasnt. Grandpa wasnt Archimedes. That was another grandfather. Ours was Anthony.

I dont know. Does he have to shout anything? Of course he does.
Okay then... He shouted: BLEUKAREPTERO! But thats not even a word.
Lets build a HELICOPTER!!! Thats what he shouted.

(a helicopter is an aviation device whose sustaining body consists of propeller on vertical axis)

Hey!! I Know what a helicopter is!

and the washing machine needed repair. And grandpa rather than help, spoke only of helicopters! He
was going too far whined grandma. This was the damned Limestone!

Who is Limestone? Are you making up again?

No! I swear that is really what grandma said. That was the work of Limestone!

ORIGINAL: Far from the surrounding world, grandpa started to work and began his new adventure.
One piece here, one screw there, disassembling the drum, pipes and rubbers. And, in a few minutes,
he had a nice engine.

And there he was, very enthusiastic with his newest acquisition! He immediately began to imagine,
writing, calculating ...

And odd it was the grandpa notebook.

By the way he was scratching his head, I think even he didnt understand what he was doing.

ORIGINAL: Everyone wanted to help (excluding poor grandma).

Even a homemade helicopter specialized engineer came by. Specialized? Wasnt he the cousins
uncle?!
But he was specialized, because after a few days of mathematical calculations and weird tests, the
helicopter construction finally began.

All and all, it seemed to be quite simple.

Grandpa was thrilled: Oh, this is amazing. No more lost hours in traffic jams! In rush hours we all will
be flying by helicopter!

ORIGINAL: Work began in the balcony.

But the balcony is too small. No way a helicopter will fit. And after, how will it be possible to take it
out?

Through the window, with a crane. Obviously.

In the BALCONY, the work was being executed with great skill. Every weekend all the family was
together to help.
First, they built the main structure with pipes and sticks, all connected with duct tape and twine. The
strong pipes were bolted together.

What a strange thing! It looked like a bird skeleton or a space spider. No way that thing would ever
fly!

Day after day, the structure gradually started to get shape. The seat was made from the dinning
room pillows, tied with colorful rubber bands (poor grandma).

ORIGINAL: In a massive labyrinth of twines, pipes, sticks and rubber bands, the thing was working
well.

The pedals screwed in the pipes ran the cord that switches-on the smallest fan fixed in the back of the
machine.

The energy generated by the speed of the pedaling would power the engine. From there, a bigger
power current would also start the main propeller giving strength for the helicopter take off.

All these mechanisms correctly linked by several factors such as power, speed, gravitational
acceleration, pressure would ... .

Are you listening? Do you understand?

Oh, yes yes, Im listening carefully. Keep going.

ORIGINAL: Everything was going well. We started to believe that we would
actually have a helicopter.

But one day, something mysterious happened!

In the morning, when grandpa was returning to his work, he found everything mixed up. The seat
was missing, the pedals running backwards, the sticks were attached to the rubber bands.

How did this happen?

The next day, again the same story, everything that grandpa fixed and worked in previous day, would
be mysteriously undone or out of place by the next morning.

ORIGINAL :It were the fireflies. They come out only during the night. Have you ever seen any? I have.

No, you havent! They dont exist.

Oh, yes I did! They live in the forests and between trees. They have birds head, hedgehog body and
dragon tail. And they shine! And fill the parks with stars.
Humm...well, maybe! But one thing is for sure, every single day the same thing happened again. We
will never be able to figure out what happened in the night. But, surely someone was
sabotaging the grandpa helicopter.

ORIGINAL: Yes, that is a real mystery... Well, what about the balloons?

What balloons?

The colorful balloons in the list?

Oh! The balloons were gifts from our uncle, when he came to lunch on Sundays. Dont you
remember?

But werent they used in the helicopter too?

Page 40

ORIGINAL:Yes, they were! Ill explain: the washing machine engine took some time to start all that
gear and the fans started to rotate slowly.

I think that all depends on the energy spent on pedaling. And the balloons helped the helicopter
starting the flight, by keeping it in air.

Slowly, with the help of the wind, off he was... floating.

That is stupid! And I bet that didnt work. Birds would pop the balloons right away!

ORIGINAL: Yes it worked! It worked just fine. Because, at that time all the pedaling had made the
motors functional and all the fans were working.

After the engine starts it was easy to control.

At least that was the idea, if it wasnt the mysterious sabotage every night.

But, in the end did grandpa build the helicopter? Oh, that?! I really have no idea!
