Querx TH is a networking enabled measuring device for
reliably monitoring temperature and humidity !onfiguration

Querx TH is powered with ; C :! over a 'icroAU%D )ack The device can be connected to a

Querx TH monitors temperature and humidity in its surrounding and sends out alarms via
email$ %&'( trap and syslog messages when configurable thresholds are exceeded

4 (utting into operation
4+ !onnect Querx TH
Querx TH is shipped with a 'icroAU%D plugAin power supply which includes clippings for
usage in several countries !hoose the right clipping and push it into the guide rails from
above until it locks in place
&ow connect the power supply to Querx TH$ using the 'icroAU%D cable 3f no free wall
outlet is available$ you can instead connect Querx TH to a free U%D port 6+9 The status 27:
lights yellow Querx TH needs ; C voltage supply$ consuming less than + W
&ow connect Querx TH to your network$ using the provided 7thernet cable 6.9

Querx TH should be placed with some distance to heat sources and be protected from direct
sunlight 1lthough measurements in still air are possible$ a certain amount of air circulation
will support better reaction times and reduce susceptibility to condensation
3f you change from analogue thermoA / hygrometers$ you should consider a transition period
in which you use both solutions Thus$ you ensure that everything works as expected and
the data is recorded properly
4. 3nstallation of ':evice :iscoverer'
Querx TH automatically receives a network configuration via :H!( as soon$ as you connect
the device to your network :uring this process$ the status 27: lights yellow
3f a valid configuration has been received$ the status 27: blinks green 3f a network problem
has occurred$ the status 27: lights red (lease ask your network administrator in this case
To access Querx' web interface$ you need to find out its 3( address This can be done using
the application ':evice :iscoverer'
1n installation image for ':evice :iscoverer' can be found on the product !: &ew versions
can free of charge be downloaded from wwwsensorsegnitede 1fter a double click on this
file$ the installation process starts

a table The first column shows the system name This name can be changed from the web
interface The second column shows the 3( address$ over which Querx TH can be accessed
3f you doubleAclick on the row with the device you want to configure$ a browser window
opens and loads the web interface

3f you don't have a :H!( server running in your network$ you have to manually set an 3(
address and a network mask Kou can do this with ':evice :iscoverer' or the 1ndroid app
'Querx :iscoverer'$ which can be found in the "oogle (lay%tore
3n :evice :iscoverer rightAclick on the device that you want do configure and choose :evice
configuration 3n the dialogue window$ provide an 3( address that is used to connect to
Querx TH and an 3( mask for the definition of the subnet Querx is located in
5inally$ click on #H to apply your changes Querx TH reboots with the new settings

1fter you have entered Querx TH's 3( address into your brower's address field or after you
have doubleAclicked on the entry in ':evice :iscoverer'$ you see the front page Here you
find currently measured values$ as well as the depiction of their development over time
The charts on the left side show the temperature and humidity gradations within the last
seven days The upper chart shows temperature development$ the lower one the
development of humidity The red lines show the configured alarm thresholds
The bars on the right side show currently measured values for temperature and humidity 3f
they are green$ the sensor is in the defined safe state *ed bars show an active alarm$ one of
the thresholds is exceeded 1 yellow color shows that the sensor measures values within
the hysteresis range 6see 8+$ configuration of the sensors9
1t the upper right part of the front page you can log in with a user name and a password

5or proper operation$ some basic configuration need to be carried out !lick at
!onfiguration in the upper right corner of the front page to access the configuration
backend
#n the left side of the screen$ you find the configuration menu$ from where you can navigate
through the different configuration areas The center part of the page shows the
configuration options that you can set #n the right side$ you find some explanatory
information on the different configuration options

5urthermore it is used to identify the source of an alarm This name can consist of up to +;

0. Time settings
!lick on %ystem / Time to open the configuration page for date and time settings These
settings allow Querx TH to put a time stamp to every measuring point$ so the development
of data can be followed

1fter you have clicked on %ync &T($ time and date are =ueried via network and saved in the
background :o not click on %ave afterward$ as you would overwrite the received settings
with the values given in the input fields

automatically updated once an hour

with the battery backed internal clock

sensor data collected so far

1fter the configuration steps in the last chapter$ Querx TH is readyAforAoperation and records
the measured sensor data To configure Querx TH for your specific use case$ following
configuration options can be set

Querx TH automatically receives a network configuration via :H!( Kou can also do the
network setup manually on the page %ystem / &etwork$ for example if you want to assign a

3f you tick the :H!( checkbox$ Querx TH gets an 3( address$ a network mask and a gateway
from the :H!( server

3f you want to manually set up the networking options$ you have to untick the :H!(

3n its basic configuration$ Querx TH can be accessed and configured via web interface
without providing any login data To increase security$ you can add users and assign them
different access privileges
To change the user settings$ open the page %ystem / User Here you can add or edit users by
clicking 7dit 6+9 3f users exist$ you can delete them by clicking :el 6.9

To add or to edit a user$ click on 7dit in one of the unused user slots

%etting up alarms is divided into two stepsB
3n the first step$ you have to configure the sensors to trigger alarms if certain thresholds are
exceeded
3n the second step you have to configure how Querx TH will react on those alarms
(ossible actions are sending emails and %&'( traps 5urthermore$ syslog messages are
sent$ if a syslog server is provided

Querx TH comes with integrated sensors for temperature and humidity$ which can
independently be configured
8++ Thresholds and hysteresis
7ach sensor can be assigned an upper and a lower limit$ between which Querx TH is in the
normal state 3f these limits are exceeded$ Querx TH triggers an alarm
:o avoid multiple alarms$ you can set a value for hysteresis This is the amount of units$
which the measured values have to move back in the direction of the normal state$ before
another alarm is triggered

3n this example$ the temperature sensor is set to a lower limit of +; E! and an upper limit of
;; E! Hysteresis is set to +/
3f an alarm is triggered at ;; E! the sensor has to measure 0; E! or less in order to trigger
another alarm on exceeding ;; E!

The field &ame takes an identifier for the sensor$ in example 'Temperature' Kou have
already chosen the temperature unit Querx TH operates with 6+9
&ow configure the safe range by setting an upper and a lower limit$ as well as a sensible
value for hysteresis$ in example . 6.9
Under #n alarm you can choose$ what actions are performed if an alarm goes on

#pen the page 1larm / 7mail to configure up to 0 recipients$ that will be notified through up
to two email accounts
3n the first section$ you see a list of the email accounts$ which are used to send alarm emails
6+9 The central section lists the email addresses$ to which the alarm emails are sent 6.9
3n the bottom section you can enter the messages that are sent with an alarm$ and configure

To enable alarm emails you have to configure an account$ which is used for sending 3n case
that the server$ to which the account belongs$ is not available$ you can provide a second
account as backup
3f none of the configured mail servers is responding$ for example in case of network failure$
Querx TH records the last +8 events that have occurred and sends the emails as soon as the
connection could be established again
To configure a mail server$ open the page 1larm / 7mail 3n the section 7mail accounts you
see two slots$ where email accounts can be added !lick on edit to create an account

3f you click on Test$ Querx TH tries to connect to the mail server 3f you didn't provide valid
data$ the corresponding fields turn red f the attempt was successful$ the Test button turns
green

The login data is stored on QuerxTH without encryption 3t is thus a good idea not to use an
existing email account but set up a dedicated account for the device Kour system
administrator can support you

Querx TH is now able to send alarms via email &ow you have to provide recipients to be
informed on occurring alarms
To create recipients open the page 1larm / 7mail 3n the section *ecipients$ you find four
slots into which recipients can be entered To do so$ click on 7dit in one of the lines
#n the next page$ enter a valid email address in the field 7mail 6+9 1fterward$ choose the
mail account where emails should be send from per default 6.9
With a click on the button Test$ an email is sent 3f everything works well$ click on %ave to
apply your changes 3f you click on !ancel your changes will be discarded
