Music is simply multiple sound put together.

There aren't really many other rules,

therefore music dates back to the beginning of mankind. Although music has always
been created by human sounds (humming, tapping feet etc.) some of the first
instruments date way back to 7000 BC in china.

Music in advertising was a phenomenon. It was a solid way of getting people to
remember a certain product because it related to a song that would stick in peoples
heads. If you hear a catchy song, it can be difficult to get it out of your head for even
a few days, but a picture or product is much easier to just forget. music in adverts
has been around for a long time, and although the type and quality of music has
changed, the psychological effects are all the same. sticking a tune in someones
head and making them relate it to a certain product
Music in advertising started on the radio back in 1926. this was a huge breakthrough,
and just went on from there. Soon all advertisements on the radio were using some
form of jingle to hook the customer in and make them remember the product.
the use of music in advertising has become normal, and it would be very rare
nowadays to see or hear an advert that does not incorporate music in it in some way.
as well as music and a way of making someone remember something, a lot of
companies use music along with a slogan, for example McDonalds im loving it.
customers can now not only relate the product to a certain tune, but the phrase that
fits in with the tune. When adverts first used music the jingles were poor quality and
very short. Since then the technology has improved therefore better quality jingles
are being used as well as better written ones that are shaped around the product.

Music festivals go way back to 1000 bc where many of the modern traditions were
done. Every spring, the Greeks got together to celebrate with music, with traditions
that wouldnt be out of place at a 21
st
century festival. They even had drinking
contests!
Obviously the festival layout was very different back then but in essence it was
many people coming together drink, listen to music and have a good time. the
modern day festival takes a lot from these greek traditions and they may not be the
same if it weren't for this.
The Bayreuth music festival is the earlier known music festival in Europe, and still
happens every year to this day. As you can see not too much has changed over the
years, although many would say this isnt your average festival, this layout was
happening way before getting drunk in a field, so some would say this is how it
started.
here is a list of some of the oldest european music festival, most of which still
happen every year.

there is simply no doubt that the African Americans way of life back in the 1400s has
influenced the music that we listen to today. when the first servants were brought
over to America, their easy understanding music, and musical elements such as call
and response, improvisation and polyrhythms created a basis that all gospel music
follows today, which then went on to grow into many other types of music that are
heavily reliant on those musical elements
African Americans used music to express themselves and distinguish a form of
society. this was in the form of hymns, shouts and anthems. these traditions are a
part of everyday life for most Christians, and play a big role in society as gospel
music is essential for religious ceremonies such as christenings, funerals and
marriages. Over the years these traditions have come on a lot with the use of newer
and more relevant music, although the basis is still the same. The musical elements
that the first African Americans used are still very much the foundation of the music,
and although other elements have been introduced, the music wouldnt be the same
without those original foundations.

music has been incorporated into learning for a very long time as it changes the
state of the brain. music is used in everyday life to attain a desired mood. it creates a
specific atmosphere, as well as helping with memory, in a similar way that
advertising with music helps you remember a certain product, when its incorporated
into learning it could help you remember a certain strategy to solve a maths problem
for example.
for many of us music is one of the joys of life, but this is because it stimulates the
brain in many ways, resulting in a learning state that enhances understanding of
learning material. it stabilises the brain waves and emotional rhythms, resulting in
deeper concentration and focus, and therefore being able to absorb more
information.
as hard as it may be to believe, music does not only affect human brains, but other
animals brains in a phenomenal way. a study was conducted in 1968 where the
results concluded that music ( including the blue danube) increased the rate at which
chickens lay eggs by up to 23% and the rate that cows produce milk by up to 19%
people have been integrating music into learning for as long as music has been
around, maybe without even knowing it. by this i don't mean learning to play or
understand music, but simple listening to music while learning. in 1982 researchers
performed a test in which 3 groups were given words to recall, with 2 groups
listening to music and 1 without. the results were clear as the groups that were
listening to music recalled more than twice the amount of words than the other
group. all of this research links in with music in advertising. when an advert has
music in it, its not only making the person remember a catchy song, its physically
changing the brain waves and emotional structure therefore changing the brain into a
highly focused state, making the person focus in on the advert and remember the
product.
