Surface Model
Elevation !"ickness
To work in three dimensions in AutoCAD, we need to use a third axis on the
rectangular (Cartesian coordinate system. This axis (defined as Z), determines the
depth of an o!ect. "n this context, the #$axis will identify the %"DT&, the '$axis
()*+T& and the Z$axis determines the D),T& of an o!ect.
1. -tart a new file from scratch. Accept all the default settings.
2. Turn the +rid and -nap .* (/0 1 /2), and use the default spacing.

The resulting 8iew is a lock that is a flattened representation of the 7D model and is pro!ected onto the 1 plane.
