Compare-Contrast Essay
Topic Sentence: First of all, Olivet and Dominica
have similar hunting and fishing laws, but there are
still some differences.
Similarities Statement: It is common knowledge
that hunting and fishing laws are created to keep
hunters and fishermen safe, keep animal populations
controlled, and keep hunting and fishing seasons set.
Through my research and experience, I have
discovered that both Olivet and Dominica have laws
about hunting and fishing to do all of these things.
Facts: For example, in Dominica, “Anyone found
hunting or fishing during the closed season may face
penalties up to six months in prison and fines up to
$750.00”

Dominica).
In Olivet, gun hunters must be a minimum of 12
years old and carry a license during hunting seasons.
To keep animals and people safe, there are laws
regarding distances from houses, the time and
lightness of day, and appropriate dress.
Differences Statement: However, the hunting and
fishing laws are different depending on the place.
Facts: For a while in Dominica during 2008, there
was a ban placed on all hunting and freshwater
fishing until further notice. This ban was temporarily
lifted, but its current status is unknown

In Michigan, the consequence for hunting during
closed season is

Michigan is allowing hunting and freshwater fishing,
which is the biggest difference between hunting and
fishing in Dominica and Olivet.
Conclusion Sentence: As you can see, both places
have laws to protect wildlife and humans while they
hunt and fish even though some of the rules are
different.
