The NHR Selection Override functionality (first introduced in Linkproof version 4.35) was
developed for the following scenario:
In the local network we have server X represented externally as static NAT A via
NHR1 and static NAT B via NHR2.
1.
A session to or from a server X is recorded in the Client Table as using NHR1 (and of
course Static NAT A defined via this NHR1).
2.
The remote site detects that it cannot reach server X (address A) via NHR1, and it
sends packets to address B via NHR2.
3.
Outbound traffic will still be sent via NHR1 (with Static NAT A), until LP detects a
problem with this path (if Health Monitoring is properly configured) - in which
case creating problems to the application level.
4.
If the Override NHR Selection is enabled when the inbound traffic arrives via NHR2 for
address B, using the same ports as the session using NH1 and address A, the client table
entry is modified to reflect that from now on NHR2 and static NAT B should be used.
This functionality is possible only for applications that use static ports - main application is
IPSec VPN when the remote VPN gateway supports high availability of VPN tunnels. For this
reason this functionality should only be applied to configured applications (ports).
Note:
This functionality is not supported for FTP or rshell protocols.
