Responsibility (CSR)
ASBM Centre for Social Responsibility was set up
in August 2005 under the auspices of ASBM Trust
as a constituent of Asian School of Business
Management. This centre has the objective to
sensitize the students towards their social
responsibility through community participation and
development of unorganized sectors. The Centre
seeks to disseminate information and the research
findings through publications, seminars,
conferences, workshops and lectures, undertake
consultancy for both national and international
agencies in the field of corporate social
responsibility (CSR) policies, practices and
programmes, labour management and
development support organizations, network with
similar institutions, both in India and abroad in
furtherance of the objectives of the centre to

Prof. Pattanayak is the Founder Director of the Institute and Professor in the area of Organisational Behaviour
& Human Resource Management. He is Ph.D. and D.Litt. in Organizational Behaviour, D.Sc. in Management
Science and is a Fellow of All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi. Prior to this, he was the Vice
Chancellor of KIIT University and Director, Indian Institute of Bank Management (IIBM), Guwahati an
institution of Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Earlier, he was a Professor in the area of Human Resource
Management & Organizational Behaviour and Chairperson of HR Area and Executive Education in Indian
Institute of Management (IIM), Indore. He has also worked with Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow,
National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai, Steel Authority of India Limited and the ESSAR
Group.
He has to his credit more than 80 Research Publications in National and International referred Journals and 19
books published by well-known publishers like Prentice Hall, Sage, Excel Books and Bloomsbury. His book
"Creating Performing Organisation has been a global best seller of amazon.com. His papers are published
regularly in reputed international journals like Organisation Development Journal (USA), HRD International

Jones (UK) etc. He has presented a number of papers and also chaired sessions both in National and
International Conferences. Prof. Pattanayak conducted a continuing workshop in the 62nd Annual Convention
of the International Council of Psychologists in 2004 at Jinan, China on Team building and Leadership, based on
the Oscar nominated movie 'Lagaan", at the invitation of the Council that was attended by delegates
representing 64 countries and had excellent rating by American Psychological Association. He also chaired
scientific session on Group and Organisational Psychology in the same Convention. He has presented papers
as an invited paper presenter in XXVIII International Congress of Psychology, 2004 at Beijing, China and XXVII
International Congress of Psychology, 2000 at Stockholm, Sweden. Prof. Pattanayak is popularly known as the
LAGAAN Professor after his innovation in teaching through the introduction of 'Lagaan' movie in course
curriculum of IIM, Indore in 2001.
Six scholars have been awarded Ph. D. and five others are pursuing their doctoral work under his guidance and
supervision. He has successfully completed eleven research projects funded by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of
India and various industries. Currently, he is the Project Director of a National Research Project on
"Organizational Effectiveness" funded by Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. Prof. Pattanayak's broad areas of

Prof. Niranjana is Professor & Associate Dean (Planning and Development). She
chairs the Organisational Behaviour & Human Resource Management area. Prior
to joining ASBM, she was working as Associate professor at the Institute of
Management Bhubaneswar. She has also worked as Assistant Professor at IBAT
School of Management, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Research Associate in
Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore and Indian Institute of Bank
Management (IIBM), Guwahati. She is M. A. and M. Phil. in Psychology and Ph.D. in
Organizational Behaviour. Prof. Niranjana has to her credit twenty seven
publications in nationally and internationally referred journals and seven books.
Her research work has been published in the internationally reputed Pfeiffer
Annuals on Organisational Citizenship Behaviour. She has also presented papers
in different national and international conferences including the International
Congress of Psychology at Beijing, China. Prof. Niranjana is a member of

Hyderabad. He has rich industry experience of more than 35 years in reputed
organizations like British Oxygen Ltd., Voltas Ltd., Cycle Corporation of India Ltd.

Anti Ragging Policy
Pursuant to the orders dated 16th May, 2007 and 1 T February, 2009 of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of
India, and in accordance with Regulation dated 17th June, 2009 of the University Grants Commission
(UGC), the Institute has formulated the following regulations to prevent and prohibit ragging in any form
in the Institute.
1 . Ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts
a) any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of
teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student;
b) indulging in rowdy or indiscipline activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause
annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof
in any fresher or any other student;
c) asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect
of causing or generating a sense of shame or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the
physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student;
d) any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other
student or a fresher;
e) exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an
individual or a group of students;
f) any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by
students;
g) any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing
obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harmor any other danger to health or person;
h) any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post, public insults which would also include deriving perverted
pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill fromactively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any
other student;
I) any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an
intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher
or any other student.
2. The Institute follows Zero Tolerance Policy towards ragging and has completely banned it. Ragging will not be
tolerated in the Institute in any formunder any circumstance. There is an anti ragging committee constituted
in the institute.
3. It shall be the duty of the Anti-Ragging Committee to ensure compliance with the provisions of these
Regulations as well as the provisions of any law for the time being in force concerning ragging; and also to
monitor and oversee the performance of the Anti-Ragging Squad in prevention of ragging in the institution.
4. It shall be the duty of the Anti-Ragging Squad to make surprise raids on hostels and other places vulnerable to
incidents of, and having the potential of, ragging and shall be empowered to inspect such places. It shall also
be the duty of the Anti-Ragging Squad to conduct an on-the-spot enquiry into any incident of ragging referred
to it by the Head of the institution or any member of the faculty or any member of the staff or any student or any
parent or guardian or any employee of a service provider or by any other person, as the case may be; and the
enquiry report along with recommendations shall be submitted to the Anti-Ragging Committee for action,
provided that the Anti-Ragging Squad shall conduct such enquiry observing a fair and transparent procedure
and the principles of natural justice and after giving adequate opportunity to the student or students accused of
ragging and other witnesses to place before it the facts, documents and views concerning the incident of
ragging, and considering such other relevant information as may be required.
5. The above Anti-Ragging Committee and the Anti-Ragging Squad will deal with all cases of ragging and
prevention of ragging in the Institute's hostels as well.
6. On receipt of the recommendation of the Anti Ragging Squad or on receipt of any information concerning any
reported incident of ragging, the Head of institution shall immediately determine if a case under the penal laws
is made out and if so, either on his own or through a member of the Anti-Ragging Committee authorized by him
in this behalf, proceed to file a First Information Report (FIR), within twenty four hours of receipt of such
information or recommendation, with the police and local authorities, under the appropriate penal provisions
relating to one or more of the following, namely :
i. Abetment to ragging;
ii. Criminal conspiracy to rag;
iii. Unlawful assembly and rioting while ragging;
iv. Public nuisance created during ragging;
v. Violation of decency and morals through ragging;
vi. Injury to body, causing hurt or grievous hurt;
vii. Wrongful restraint;
viii. Wrongful confinement;
ix. Use of criminal force;
x. Assault as well as sexual offences or unnatural offences;
xi. Extortion;
xii. Criminal trespass;
xiii. Offences against property;
xiv. Criminal intimidation;
xv. Attempts to commit any or all of the above mentioned offences against the victim(s);
xvi. Threat to commit any or all of the above mentioned offences against the victim(s);
xvii. Physical or psychological humiliation;
xviii. All other offences following fromthe definition of "Ragging",
7. Notwithstanding filing of FIR, the Institute shall also institute its own enquiry and shall
punish a student found guilty of ragging after following the procedure and in the manner
prescribed herein under:
a) The Anti-Ragging Committee of the institution shall take an appropriate decision, in
regard to punishment or otherwise, depending on the facts of each incident of ragging
and nature and gravity of the incident of ragging established in the recommendations of
the Anti-Ragging Squad.
b) The Anti-Ragging Committee may, depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt
established by the Anti-Ragging Squad, award, to those found guilty, one or more of the
following punishments, namely :
i. Suspension fromattending classes and academic privileges;
ii. Withholding/ withdrawing scholarship/ fellowship and other benefits;
iii. Debarring fromappearing in any test/ examination or other evaluation process;
iv. Withholding results;
v. Debarring fromrepresenting the institution in any regional, national or international meet,
tournament, youth festival, etc.;
vi. Suspension/ expulsion fromthe hostel;
vii. Cancellation of admission;
viii. Rustication fromthe institution for period ranging fromone to four semesters;
ix. Expulsion fromthe institution and consequent debarring fromadmission to any other
institution for a specified period;
Provided that where the persons committing or abetting the act of ragging are not
identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment;
c) Appeal against the order of punishment by the Anti-Ragging Committee shall lie to the
Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University;
8. Every student of the Institute shall provide an affidavit at the time of admission or
registration, as the case may be, during each academic year;
9. Similarly parents/ guardians of all the students shall provide specific affidavit during each
academic year.

Any Graduate with minimum 50%
marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ST) in any discipline
recognized by Association of Indian Universities is eligible
to apply for admission into the two year programmes.
Candidates appearing for the final examination for the
bachelor's degree (or equivalent examination) can also
apply, subject to furnishing evidence to that effect latest by
30th September 2014, otherwise they may be asked to
withdraw from the programme.
How to Apply
The candidates have to buy ASBM application form along with the
Information Bulletin on payment of Rs. 950/- (Rupees nine hundred
fifty only) by hand from our Corporate Office or Campus. Application
form can also be downloaded from our website at www.asbm.ac.in.
The fee has to be paid by Bank Draft drawn in favour of 'Asian
School of Business Management payable at Bhubaneswar or by
cash.
Candidates seeking admission to our Post Graduate Programmes
will have to qualify either in CAT/MAT/CMAT/XAT/ ATMA. Based on
the performance in CAT/MAT/CMAT/XAT/ATMA and past
academic performance, the candidate will be short listed for the
Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The final selection of
candidate to the programme will be based on the performance of
the candidate in GD and PI.

About Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, is also popularly
known as the "Temple City of India". A thriving centre
of art and culture, Bhubaneswar, literally meaning the
Lord (Eswar) of the Universe (Bhuban), is a hub of
historic temples the most important being the Lingaraj
