Differences between the Present Perfect Tense and the Simple Past Tense.

The present perfect is used when the time period I have seen three movies this week.
has NOT finished: (This week has not finished yet.)
The simple past is used when the time period I saw three movies last week.
HAS finished: (Last week is finished.)
The present perfect is often used when giving Martin has crashed his car again.
recent news: (This is new information.)
The simple past is used when giving older Martin crashed his car last year.
information: (This is old information.)
The present perfect is used when the time is not I have seen that movie already.
specific: (We don't know when.)
I saw that movie on Thursday.
The simple past is used when the time is clear:
(We know exactly when.)
The present perfect is used with for and since, I have lived in Victoria for five years.
when the actions have not finished yet: (I still live in Victoria.)
The simple past is used with for and since, when I lived in Victoria for five years.
the actions have already finished: (I don't live in Victoria now.)

Complete the sentence with Present Perfect or Past Simple using the verb in brackets:
