INTRODUCTION
WHY NATURAL VENTILATION ?
The design of your home needs three elements in balance : heating, insulation and ventilation. Each element is
vitally important for the quality of the indoor environment and thus the well-being of the occupants.
To ensure this balance, Building Regulations give minimum levels of ventilation required (see p 6).
Ventilation helps to prevent the build up of fumes from man made products within the home plus natural gases such
as radon and methane.
Ventilation of buildings is necessary for the health of a building and its occupants. A regular family produces an
average of 10 l. of water every day in the form of water vapour merely by breathing, washing, cooking and bathing.
A continuous airflow is essential to prevent condensation, to remove moisture and pollutants such as tobacco smoke.
Renson ventilators are aesthetic and energy saving providing effective ventilation for a healthier climate for you, your
family, pets and plants.
Rapid ventilation through open windows is uncontrolled and therefore a waste of energy. Window ventilators enable
you to have secure and controlled ventilation, even when you are not at home.
There is no risk from unwanted intruders, both human and insects.
Permanent ventilation is essential to help prevent the build up of carbon monoxide gas which can be lethal in an
enclosed area.
6 GOOD REASONS TO BECOME A RENSON CUSTOMER
1. Customer satisfaction through personal contact, professional advice, excellent service and reliable, high-performance
products is the key goal of our company.
2. Renson is a renowned and established multinational company with international knowledge and experience thanks
to the efforts of our local specialists. They are present in every region of the world. Renson has contributed to
projects all around the world from Moscow to Tahiti and from Monaco to Shanghai.
3. Complete service from start until finish, adequate support and advice at design stage, at site-meetings and at
installation.
4. The production process is fully vertically integrated, which enables manufacturing to strict standards. The investment
in injection-moulding machinery, anodising facilities and a fully automatic powder-coating installation ensures
efficiency and accuracy. The assembly method of components and profiles requires us to meet tight tolerances.
5. Continuous research & development translates customer needs into unique solutions and innovative products.
6. Renson specialises in all aspects of ventilation and solar shading; achieving the current goals of the design of a
Healthy Building with reduced energy costs.

ADVANTAGES
1. Airflow : designed for maximum performance
Requirements for ventilation can be expressed in terms of free area or airflow. Renson ventilators are
designed for a maximum performance.
Free area is the physical dimension, determined by the minimum opening size of the ventilator (in mm
2
).
Airflow is determined by the volume of air that passes through the ventilator within one hour at a specific
pressure difference (in m
3
/h).
2. Water- and windtightness : designed for the severest weather conditions
Depending on the type, the Renson ventilators can achieve a water- and windtightness up to
800 Pa, thus meeting the highest standards.
3. Self-regulating : innovative and energy-efficient
This high comfort ventilator offers a constant and optimised airflow which is controlled by a
self-regulating mechanism and a controllable flap.
Principle : windforce independent airflow (see page 15)
4. Acoustics : specially designed range of vents to meet acoustic requirements
A full range of Renson ventilators is available, achieving a sound reduction between
35 and 49 dB.
5. Gas version
A range of vents designed to comply with British Gas requirements and approved
by British Gas Technology.
6. High capacity
The range of glazed-in vents has varying free area (airflow) capacities between 8500 mm
2
/m
(25 m
3
/h/m) and 30000 mm
2
/m (111 m
3
/h/m).
Example : 8000 mm
2
vent can be achieved with 355 mm (overall length).
7. Finish
Renson vents can be colour matched to your requirements. This can include dual colouring and special
finishes.
8. Self-assembly : to increase your flexibility
Renson products can be supplied in bar lengths.
For colour flexibility and efficient stock control, bar lengths are available in mill finish.
Simple : just cut the ventilator to size from bar length and fix the endcaps (1L + 1R).
IMPORTANT : always use a cutting blade with negative teeth (88) !

UNIQUE SELF-REGULATING VENTILATORS:
INNOVATIVE AND ENERGY-EFFICIENT
(protected by patentnr. 09700224)
Self-regulating principle
A unique range of self-regulating vents all incorporating a
secondary flap that closes automatically and decreases the
amount of air flowing through the vent when external wind
speed increase.
Self regulating qualities
The accompanying airflow compares the behavior of a self-
regulating ventilator with a standard ventilator, which is totally
different. The ventilator becomes self-regulating from 5 Pa,
reaching a constant airflow from 13 Pa and a maximum airflow
from 120 to 220 m
3
/h/m according to the type of ventilator.
Principle : windforce independent airflow
An automatically operating flap assures, while the windforce
increases, a constant volume of air circulates the building.
The airstream is controlled in two phases :
The automatic, self-regulating flap : guarantees a constant
airflow, which cannot be influenced by the occupant.
Manually adjustable flap : can be influenced by the
occupant.
Stable operation
Because the self-regulating flap is clamped over the full length,
vibration of the flap is avoided indifferent of air pressure and
windspeed

Thermally broken, self-regulating flap ventilator for installation above an aluminium, timber or uPVC
window frame. The depth of the ventilator to fit the adapted window frame can be adapted between
50 and 140 mm thanks to an ingenious slide and click-system. the perforated inner profile performs
as an insect mesh and is fully removable for cleaning purposes.
The airflow can be controlled manually by means of an internal tiplever in 5 stepped settings
(open/close and 3 intermediate positions). In open position, the incoming airflow is directed upwards
to avoid any draughts. The internal tiplever can be closed with a positive click and thanks to the
installation of a rubber strip it ensures high water and wind resistance up to 650 Pa.
The self-regulating flap is operating at the point of air inflow in the external profile and reacts
automatically at wind pressure differences. The internal flap cannot be influenced by the user but is
maintenance free. Manual control, cord and rod options are available.

Schools, dwellings, hospitals, situated in the middle of town, close to airports or motorways are
often poorly ventilated due to the noise nuisance when ventilating by means of opening windows or
by traditional window ventilators.
Renson have developed different types of sound absorbing ventilators each performing to certain
required levels of sound insulation.
All Renson sound absorbing ventilators are developed and tested at Rensons inhouse acoustic laboratory.
Description
Ventilator consists of a compact, flat aluminium housing divided into compartments, with special
sound absorbing material and one with a ventilation opening. The housing is made up of four
aluminium extrusions joined by a uPVC insulation thermal barrier.
Features
Fits all window profiles
Excellent airflow
Removeable inner section for easy cleaning
When an increase in airflow is required or greater extraction of internal air is necessary,
the sound absorption ventilator can be equipped with an integral fan, AKV 40.

In closed position, the form and flexible extrimities of the
variable position flap ensure an optimum water and
windtightness. The external hood provides an extra
protection against heavy rains and windinfluences. The
endcaps cover the cutting edges of the aluminium profiles
to increase watertightness and to achieve a nice finished
product. Special foam is provided under the endcaps to
ensure full watertightness of the ventilator.
The control is incorporated in the endcaps and can be
placed in several positions. The ventilator can be installed
on top of the glass, or at transom.
Installation
For installation, the use of glazing gasket or silicone
sealant and glazing beads is advised.
