equips functional managers or newly promoted
managers with an integrative approach to
management to help them become more effective
leaders and change agents in their organization. This
is a 7 class-day, non-degree course.

The $-stage curriculum of the Management Development rogram has been
formulated help new managers and middle-management e#ecutives ta"e on an
integrative approach to management. The MD%s learning process is augmented by
case studies, and individual mentoring.
The first stage of the curriculum, $eadership and "#siness Analysis% &ntegrative
Management, will teach participants on the components of leadership through the
case method. &mphasis will be on the integration of the technical and human side of
an organization. 'sing the case method approach, the following critical challenges
will be addressed( motivation, trust and commitment, communication, economics
and business operations. articipants will be made to( understand the difference
between doing things and doing things through people! understand the correct and
incorrect uses of power and influence! learn how to create trusting interpersonal
relationships! learn the effects of different leadership styles! and appreciate the
impact of strategic economics on business.
The second stage, Appreciating '#nctional ()pertise, will cover the core
functional areas of management to sharpen the general management s"ills and
e#pose participants to areas of management in which they may have limited
e#perience. )unctional areas covered are( *ccounting and )inance, +perations, and
Mar"eting.

stage, &m*i*ing +trategic Perspective, is designed to enhance each
participant,s strategic thin"ing, leadership, and coaching s"ills in order to help them
be more effective leaders and change agents.

$eadership and "#siness Analysis
articipants will be made to( understand the difference between doing things and
doing things through people! understand the correct and incorrect uses of power and
influence! learn how to create trusting interpersonal relationships! learn the effects
of different leadership styles! and appreciate the impact of economics on business
activities and strategies.
Acco#nting
The accounting session aim to demystify financial statements and reporting enough
to enable participants to identify, apply, and lin" strategies for evaluating earnings
and cash flows to value creation.
'inance
This session will familiarize the participants with both the frame of reference used by
financial officers and the problems encountered in finance. The three principal areas
that will be covered are cash-flow analysis, capital budgeting allocation decisions,
and capital structure analysis.
Mar.eting
This module addresses the mar"eting-related challenges faced by front-line
managers to middle-level e#ecutives and is designed to provide the concepts and
tools needed to understand the customer and to deliver improved operating results.
Operations
This session focuses on the strategic role of operations to enable improvement and
financial success. .t provides a systemic view of an organization as a collection of
business flows that suggests appropriate performance metrics and facilitates the
identification of potential improvement targets. The emphasis is on lin"ing
operational and financial flows in the setting of daily management, as well as
strategic capacity investment and operational hedging considerations.

This one-day session will cover thin"ing creatively about strategy, strategic problem
solving, decision ma"ing and thin"ing and planning strategically. /earn how to
generate wide-ranging possibilities to come up with new solutions and approaches to
current and potential challenges and opportunities.
Managerial Mentoring and Coaching% (nergi/ing People for Performance
