China through the Red Cross program.

National Red Cross branches in Daejon, Sejong, and Chungnam. They had

raising activities from May 9

and lasted for 20 days. 14,000 people from
different organizations, Provincial Government offices, education department
offices, and banks

participated in the event.

The fund which will be sent to the Red Cross Society of China in Sichuan
Province through the Korea National Red Cross is to be used in the restoration of
the damages caused by the earthquake.

One of the officials said in an interview, We also sent help in Sichuan Province
in 2008 amounting to 20 million won when it was hit by another earthquake.
Sichuan Province is immensely grateful, not only for the fund itself but for the
kind gesture it represents.

Sichuan Province in China was hit again by an earthquake last April 20
th
. It had

a magnitude of 7.0 in the Richter scale. 220 people were recorded as either
missing or dead. 400,000 houses were damaged and destroyed. 1,520,000
residents were affected by the earthquake.

As an effort to raise fund to help the victims, Chungnam Province organized a
fundraising musical performance that was held on May 22

at the main building
of the Chungnam Provincial Government Office.
