REPORT TEXT

Can be explained briefly that text is a written report that describes a description of
something. The text is the result of systematic observation and analysis that led to
the sentences that are scientifically proven.
Generic Structure of Report Text

Report text has a structure that is divided into two, namely the General
Classification and Description. See the following explanation to get the details:

General Classification - A general statement to explain the subject to be reported or
described.

Description - In accordance with its name, description means a description which
explains in detail about something mentioned in the General Classification. The
explanation could include a general description, the, nature, customs, and other
scientific translation.

Grammar in the Report text

Some characteristics of the following grammar, commonly used in a text report:

A general description of the style such as the American Horse not My Horse.
Using the simple present tense.
Using scientific words.
Using action verbs.

KANGAROO

A kangaroo is an animal found only in Australia, although it has a smaller
relative, called a wallaby, which lives on the Australian island of Tasmania
and also in New Guinea.
Kangaroos eat grass and plants. They have short front legs, but very long,
and very strong back legs and a tail. These are used for sitting up and for
jumping. Kangaroos have been known to make forward jumps of over eight
metres, and leap across fences more than three metres high. They can also
run at speeds of over 45 kilometres per hour.
The largest kangaroos are the Great Grey Kangaroo and the Red Kangaroo.
Adult grow to a length of 1.60 metres and weigh over 90 kilos.
Kangaroos are marsupials. This means that the female kangaroo has an
external pouch on the front of her body. A baby kangaroo is very tiny when
it is born, and it crawls at once into this pouch where it spends its first five
months of life

SEA-HORSE (KUDA LAUT)

Sea-horses are sea creatures with heads. It seems like horses. They are actually
fish. They build their homes in warm, shallow water, where they live amongst sea
plants. A sea-horse has a skeleton, gills, and fins like a fish. But, unlike other fish,
however, it doesn't have scales. Its body is covered with bony plates of 'armour'.
This heavy 'armour' makes it hard for the sea-horse to swim. It spends much of its
time having a rest among the sea plants. It uses its prehensile tail to anchor itself to
plants. When microscopic sea animals swim by, the sea horse quickly sucks them
up with its long snout. The eyes of sea-horse do not look straight ahead like
human. A sea-horse can look left with one eye and look right with the other. This
means it can look out for enemies with one eye and search for food with other.
Sea-horse are clever at camouflaging themselves. They can change their colors
easily. They can be brown, red, yellow, black, grey, or white. They also change
their color in the blink of an eye. This makes it hard for enemies like birds and
crabs to see them.

EAGLE

The eagle is one of the animals found in a whole area of Indonesia. In English,
eagle or hawk refers to the large birds of prey in the genus of Aquila.
Eagles are warm-blooded animals. They have wings and body which are covered
with midrib fur. For birds, eagles breed by laying eggs on the nest they have made.
The mother keeps until the little eagles are able to fly.
Eagles are predator. The main food is small mammals such as mice, squirrels,
lizard, fish and chicken, as well as the types of insects but depends on the body
size. There is partial eagle catching a fish as their main meal. Usually eagles live
on the waters area. Eagles beak is curved and toothless but its strong enough to
rip the flesh. This bird also has a pair of strong legs and sharp and curved nails for
gripping the prey. Furthermore, their sharp eyesight is useful to hunt from a long
distance.
Eagles have a good respiratory system and are able to provide the amount of
oxygen that is much needed when flying. Their heart consists of four chambers as
humans. Upper chambers are known as the atria, while the lower chamber is
recognized as the ventricles.

TSUNAMI

The term of tsunami comes from the Japanese which means harbour
("tsu") and wave ("nami"). A tsunamigk is a series of waves generated when
water in a lake or the sea is rapidly displaced on a massive scale.

A tsunami can be generated when the sea floor abruptly deforms and
vertically displaces the overlying water. Such large vertical movements of
the earth's crust can occur at plate boundaries. Subduction of earthquakes
are particularly effective in generating tsunamis, and occur where denser
oceanic plates slip under continental plates.

As the displaced water mass moves under the influence of gravity to regain
its equilibrium, it radiates across the ocean like ripples on a pond.

Tsunami always bring great damage. Most of the damage is caused by the
huge mass of water behind the initial wave front, as the height of the sea
keeps rising fast and floods powerfully into the coastal area.

VOLCANO ERUPTION

Do you know what a volcano is? I guess you all know volcano is a
mountain with magma inside it. Most volcanoes are formed on land, but there are
some volcanoes that are on the ocean floor. You know the famous volcanoes in
Indonesia, right? Yes, there are Mount Merapi and Mount Krakatau. Mount Merapi
was erupt in October 2010 and Mount Krakatau was erupt in 1883. The eruptions
are really massive and destructive. Do you want to know how is the volcano
erupting? Well, let me explain to you.

At first, the eruption begins when pressure on a magma chamber inside the
volcano forces magma up through the conduit and out the volcano's vents. Then,
when the magma chamber has been completely filled, the pressure is getting
higher. Finally, the magma reaches up to the surface. When magma reaches earth's
surface it is called lava. It may pour out in gentle streams called lava flows or
erupt violently into the air. Rocks ripped loose from the inside of the volcano or
torn apart by the gas. may be shot into the air with the lava. The lava destroys
everything in its path because it is very hot. The big rocks can destroy anything
because the sizes are super big. The thick black smoke can burn everything slowly
and its suffocating.

Theres no doubt that volcano eruption is really dangerous. Many people
were dead because of it. A big number of people had to abandon their homes and
land forever. Even the whole world's climate was changed for a while as a result
of an eruption. But volcano eruptions bring good effects too, because after a long
time it can make the land fertile.

EARTHQUAKE

I had just got into bed about half past elevent when I felt the tremor. The bed
started to tremble and I noticed the electric light hung in the ceiling was swaying.
Then, I got out of the bed quickly and went to look out of the window. As I looked,
I saw the house opposite began to fall sideways. Then I realized what was
happening. I put on my dressing gown hurriedly and rushed out into the garden.
I was alone in the house, my wife and children had gone to visit my mother in law.
For three or four minutes, I heard a terrible noise of walls falling down, and people
screaming, and I saw clouds of dust in the air. Then the trembling stopped.
There were about fifty persons killed and more than two hundred injured. The
damage to the property was considerable and about three hundred houses would
haveto be completely rebuilt.
