Every care has been taken to ensure that the descriptions in this catalogue and on our
website are accurate. If for any reason an item is not acceptable, it may be returned
unopened, unused, unwashed and in its original packaging, within 14 days and a full refund

All our products are tested to ISO-11948-1 absorbency levels. ISO (International
Organisation for Standardisation) is the total absorbency of a product in laboratory
tests. Disposable continence products have a total absorbency (ISO) and a working
absorbency. The working absorbency will depend on the BMI and the physical activity
of the wearer. This can be between 1/3 and 1/2 of the ISO absorbency to ensure
security for the wearer.
In this brochure, we have quoted the ISO absorbency and this should be taken into
account when selecting the correct product.

Incontinence is an involuntary loss
of urine or bowel motion at an
inappropriate time or in an
inappropriate place. The amount
can vary from slight to copious. It is
important to remember that
incontinence is not a disease but a
symptom of an underlying disorder.
Incontinence is Common
Incontinence is a bigger problem than
most people realise. In fact, 1 in 3
women and 1 in 9 men will suffer with
incontinence at some point in their lives.
Approximately 20% of women over the
age of 40 have some degree of urinary
incontinence.
Unfortunately, incontinence is still
considered to be a taboo subject with
many individuals suffering in silence
without getting any help and it is
estimated that there are 3 million
people in the UK that are regularly
incontinent.
The risk of becoming incontinent
increases with age, but 70% of people
with symptoms of incontinence can
be cured or greatly improved with the
help of a medical professional.

you to identify when the product needs to be

The colour changes from yellow to blue, showing

This can also be used in documentation to record times

breathable backsheet offers greater comfort for
the wearer, promoting skin integrity. The advanced
double 3 layer absorbent core ensures that the
skin is kept dry while leakage barriers ensure
maximum protection and lock any fluid inside the
pad. Abri-San Premium 1 to 4 feature an
adhesive strip which enables the pad to be
secured in close fitting underwear. Wetness
indicators are featured on our Abri-San Premium
5 upwards. This can help you to identify when the
product needs changing when dealing with urinary
incontinence. These pads should be worn with
fixation pants which fully support the pad and
help prevent against leakage (see page 26 for
our range of fixation products). These products
are latex free.
Abri-San Special Premium
This product, designed as part of a two-piece system, (fixation
pants required) has unique leakage barriers with deep pockets
to keep faeces contained even when released under pressure.
Abri-San Special Premium also has our breathable backsheet to
help maintain skin integrity. The backsheet is green coloured to
clearly differentiate between the Abri-San Special Premium
and our conventional shaped products. This product contains
superabsorbent polymers and, therefore, can be
used for both urinary and faecal
incontinence. This product

Faecal & Rectangular Products
Faecal or urinary incontinence can be
difficult conditions for sufferers to live
with and to try to effectively control.
Conventional incontinence products may
not always be suitable to deal with faecal
incontinence effectively. However,
Abena have a number of products that
can be considered when dealing with
faecal incontinence.
Abri-Let Anatomic
Abri-Let Anatomic has been designed as part of a
two-piece system (fixation pants required) and is an
ideal product to use for faecal smearing. The anatomical,
discreet shape gives optimal comfort for the wearer and
is easier to apply than conventional rectangular
pads. This product should be worn with fixation
pants (page 26). This product is latex free.
Rectangular
Rectangular pads can be a suitable alternative to shaped products for
light urinary incontinence. The adhesive strip on Abri-Let Mini
allows this product to be secured in normal underwear.
However, these products do not contain the stay dry technology
featured in our Premium shaped products.
Abri-Let Normal doesnt have a waterproof backsheet or adhesive strip
making this an ideal booster pad, when extra protection is required.

Fixation Pants Body Stockings
All Abri-San Products from an Abri-San
Premium 5 upwards should be worn in
combination with special fixation products.
Compared to ordinary underwear fixation
products offer a wider crotch area and extra
elasticity, in order to support the pad in the
best possible way, to offer optimum security
against leakage.
In order to obtain the correct size fixation
product, both the waist and hip should be
measured and the largest measurement
used.
Abri-Fix Net can be washed up to 25-30
times and Abri-Fix Pant Super (stretch)
can washed up to 100 times.



To ensure you get the best out of these
products, please refer to the label for the full
washing instructions. These products are
latex free.
NB! Fixation products should never be
tumble dried, as this will cause the product
to lose its elasticity and become ineffective.
Body stockings are an excellent solution
providing extra security for keeping an
incontinence pad in place (to be used
alongside a fixation product).
All our body stockings are made out of 92%
cotton and 8% elastane. These garments
are fully washable at 60C and can be
tumble dried at a low temperature.
Please note these garments may shrink
by 10% upon the first wash.
Measurements are based on the hip,
waist and chest (the widest measurement
should be used).

If you find your child no longer fits into the largest nappy on

Washing Lotion
This mild but effective washing lotion should be

Washable Clothes Protectors
Abenas range of washable clothes
protectors are made with the same highly
absorbent polyester/Rayon as the bed and
chair protectors. The backing is waterproof
and the clothes protector is made from
Perma Print, which makes the design
colour-fade resistant. All clothes
protectors are fully washable up to 95C.
The extra-long size (45x90cm) gives greater
protection for clothing. Poppers are used to
secure the protectors and are available in 2
colours.
As the protectors are made out of
laminated layers this ensures that the shape
is maintained wash after wash.
