You have been given the full orchestral score for The Augurs of Spring- Dances of the Young
Girls from through to the rst page of The Ritual of Abduction, as well as the score to the ballets
nale, The Sacricial Dance, from Stravinskys own piano 4-hands arrangement

Your tasks are as follows:
1. Dene the following vocabulary:

2. Analyze the Polychords that start both The Augurs of Spring- Dances of the Young Girls and
The Ritual of Abduction. (bonus points for any additional polychords analyzed)

3. Using colors of some variety (you may choose but indicate by marking the following
categories with their corresponding color) highlight/circle/box-off the following:
5 examples of dove-tailing
3 examples of ostinati (ostinatos)
2 examples of ghting the barline (suppression of regular meter by irregular accents)
2 examples of hemiola

4. Practice counting through the sacricial dance and take note of the rhythmic feeling of the
movement
