To ensure every student their right to a quality education in a safe and supportive environment, I agree to the following guidelines:
Attendance: I will attend scheduled classes on scheduled school days. I understand that a parent or guardian must notify the office in writing within 48 hours of an absence to be excused. Absences are expected to be excused by the next scheduled meeting of that class. Whenever possible, I will notify teachers before an absence.
Homework: Homework, tests and quizzes can only be made up if the absence for that class is excused
Lateness: I accept that it is my responsibility to arrive to class on time. Teachers will assign progressive discipline for lateness.
Late Work: I will turn all assignments in on time. If there are any problems or concerns about deadlines or the assignment, I understand it is my responsibility to initiate contact with the instructor as soon as concerns arise and before the assignment is due.
Food/Drink: No food or drinks are ever allowed in Mr. Connells room/computer lab.
Personal Electronics: I understand that all personal electronics, including Smart phones, Tablets, IPODS, Games, CD players, etc., are brought to school at my own risk, responsibility, and choice. Cell phones may not be used in the classroom. Cell phones will be secured in the Deans office if they are used inappropriately.
Cheating: Plagiarism, forgery, Dishonesty: Copying the ideas, writings, or work of another is a serious offense. Plagiarism and/or forging or falsifying documents/signatures or providing misinformation to the school may result in r suspension as well as loss of credit on assignments.
Computer Usage: Students will read and abide by the NYCDOE acceptable usage policy for computer utilization which can be found at schools.nyc.gov/default.htm Computer abuse and/or misuse may result in both a failing grade and referral to the Principals office for further action. Grading Policies (Subject to Change): Your final grade will be based on the following criteria: Projects, Class Participation, and Attendance/Lateness/Homework/Notebook. 1. Online Oracle Quizzes and Midterm and Final Exams 20% 2. Projects 15% 3. Homework and Class participation 15% 4. Written Exams, Midterm and Final Exam 50% 5. Class Participation/Lateness/Attendance adjust grades up or down and will account for 10% of your grade. More than 14 missed classes may result in a failing grade. 6. Professional demeanor is important in the classroom, especially one that requires group project oriented work. Any student who disrupts the class in any manner will be subject to a significant point deduction from their grade.
