Please limit your response to each of the following questions to about 75 words.
1. To an outsider, how would you describe the region you wish to represent -- geographically,
economically, politically and socially? HD 19 is primarily rural in nature with portions of urban
South Salem. The district has a blend of urban professionals and rural farmers and those
representing the agriculture industry. It is made up of small businesses and public safety
facilities like Marion County Jail and the DPSST. It is a very diverse district. In addition, there
is a significant segment of industrial sites.
2. What are the positives and negatives of this region (district, county or state) that you wish to
represent? The diversity can bring about challenges with the needs of both farm and urban
growth. The district has a significant segment of public safety services which includes the
county jail and the training facility at DPSST along with the MacLaren Youth Correctional
facility. Generally speaking, the district is made up of hardworking middle class individuals and
families struggling at times to maintain their job and provide for families.
3. What specific skills and experiences do you bring to the position that would help turn those
negatives into positives? With extensive community service and experience working with non-
profits and boards I have developed beneficial relationships with community leaders from all
sectors. This experience will allow me to tap into the brain power that drives our communitys
economic forces.
5. What separates you from your opponent(s)? Be specific. Based on the joint meetings we have
had, it is obvious we come from two different philosophical perspectives. In most cases, I lean
more on the private sector for solutions and it seems his answers are more focused on how
government can solve problems. I believe in the free enterprise system and want to do
everything I can to promote entrepreneurship and create new jobs. Government has an important
role when it comes to our schools, public safety, human services and transportation, but our
economic health is directly linked to the success of small business and the jobs they can create.
6. Please list five specific accomplishments that you have achieved in politics or civic affairs:
1. Stayton Sublimity Chamber of Commerce First Citizen Award
2. United Way Loaned Executive of the Year Mid-Willamette Valley
3. President of the Santiam Family YMCA
4. Fundraising for various community events and programs such as funds raised for
playground equipment, sports field turf project, covered play shed and school bond.
7. How much will your General Election campaign cost (be specific)? Raised nearly $70,000
total, with a $50,000 general election budget
8. Have you ever been convicted of a crime, been disciplined by a professional licensing
board/organization or had an ethics violation filed against you? If so, please give the details.
No
9. Have you ever filed for bankruptcy, been delinquent on your taxes or other major accounts, or
been sued personally or professionally? If so, please give the details.
Generally no, was delinquent on some property taxes.
10. What are the three most important issues you would address if elected, and how? (75 words
for each issue)
A. Economics, job creation and helping Oregon create a better business climate
B. Education with an emphasis on preparing our kids to be competitive in a world marketplace.
Insure our kids enter school ready to learn and can read by 3
rd
grade, more local control for
Principals and parents.
C. Public safety to insure we have a secure Oregon. HD 19 has an emphasis of public safety
services as mentioned before and they need support.
11. What do you see as other important issues?
1. Healthcare and senior issues
2. Mental health
3. Improved cooperation between political leaders to solve problems
4. Public transportation

12. Any skeletons in your closet or other potentially embarrassing information that you should
disclose before it comes up in the campaign? Anything (including health issues) that would
affect your ability to serve your full term? Any changes in your life situation that are
contemplated or expected before the election or before you would take office?
No
